Also, you hating the gods as parents is understandable and realistic. They are meant to be as bad as the Titans and monsters, except without the anarchy.

The river goes through St. Louis, Missouri. When Rick Riordan wrote the book, he thought the river ran under the arch so Percy fell into the river. For the show, he instead was caught by a current of the river over land and brought underwater where he met the nature spirit. There, she was trying to explain to him that his father could not interfere and support his son because it was the rules of fate that he did it on his own.
