lorelai definitely wasn’t in the right for the things she said, but, as another commenter mentioned, she was just panicked and freaking out. she didn’t mean what came out of her mouth. she does understand why luke’s doing what he’s doing for jess, but rory genuinely could have been killed in the accident—especially after seeing how the car looked. it’s a miracle she only broke her wrist. that doesn’t make it right, but that’s what happened

The thing you have to remember about jess is that he’s not difficult for no reason. His life has been very unstable. His mom is messy and jess has pretty much raised himself. Even though he’s got Luke now, it’s hard for people to accept help like that especially at this age. Lorelai does understand why Luke needs to care for jess. She stood up for him when the town was giving Luke a hard time. She was just panicking and when she’s upset she fights dirty sometimes. She was definitely wrong for the things she said though.
