I've decided to shut down my Patreon. It will officially close in January 2024.
After giving this a lot of thought, I've come to the conclusion that stepping away from Patreon and from this art account for a while is for the best. There are a ton of different factors that have gone into this decision, and while I don't feel that many of the details are important, I do feel I owe you an explanation.
The last couple of years - and the last year in particular - have been increasingly unfortunate and difficult. Between feelings of burnout, poor mental health (I can't speak for other BBW artists, but this stuff takes a surprising toll), financial hardship, declined physical health (I'm developing early-stage kidney disease alongside other related health issues), and myriad other stressors that have added up ... I'm overwhelmed. And being overwhelmed for so long has meant that my health, relationships, career, etc. have suffered, and I need to take responsibility and regain some control in my life where it really matters, which means also finally learning to take care of myself.
When I first announced my hiatus, I said that I hoped I could return to this again in full-force someday, and I still have that hope. I mean, realistically speaking, life eventually has to ease-up, right? Things WILL improve. I know it. So I still want to come back to this, and honestly I'll probably still make art and post on my free-feeds from time to time after I've had a few months away from everything. This has been a massive learning experience for me, so I think returning to Patreon someday and restarting with a clean slate actually sounds kinda nice to me. There are plent yof things I'd do differently now that I've had some experience. There's nothing technically stopping me from keeping the Patreon live but on hiatus indefinitely, but admittedly shutting it down and making it more final just feels like the right call to me. I think a clean break is what I need right now - some time to fully reset and re-evaluate my priorities.
Oh, and although I never charged for the month of October to begin with, I do apologize that I can't deliver on that month's remaining artwork (namely the Shadowheart drawing and Ai Hoshino sequence). I 'll keep it on my to-do list for whenever I do return to drawing and posting on DA. Like I said, the Patreon will be closing in January, so you have the rest of December to browse and download whatever you'd like. And of course, my dms are open here and on DA if you have any questions.
Anyway, I want to say thank you again for supporting me. Although I need to say goodbye for right now, it's been a pleasure drawing for and engaging with you. I've loved drawing my whole life, so to have a small following and to even earn some money doing it really is something like a dream come true for me. I'm grateful and I hope you'll continue to follow me on DA once I get back to it.
