🕑 Added 2025-10-24 09:24:13 +0000 UTCFinally, it’s time to leave A01 behind and move on to the next chapter! As I said at the end of my last video, I’ve been training the AI on the next campaign tracks, to see if it could also beat humans there.
This small video shows the result of training the AI on A05, the 5th track in the campain. This track has a shortcut near the end, where you can jump over the road's fence and climb it back later to reach the finish line. To ensure the AI would take the cut, I blocked the normal path by adding a wall.
In the first POV, you can see that the AI gets the shortcut right quite consistently. But what I find even cooler is that the AI also learned backup strategies, different ways to still reach the finish when it fails the shortcut!
In the second POV, for example, the AI hits the fence during the jump. It then realizes it doesn’t have enough speed to climb the finish barrier, and instead drives around it to reach the finish.
Even better: in the third POV, the AI knows it won’t have enough speed to clear the first fence. So instead, it drives to the wall, maneuvers to climb from this easier spot, and then takes the safe route to the finish.
So, after all this training, was it enough to beat the A05 human World Record? Well, that, I’m not gonna reveal just yet... :)
