Serving ads?

So recently I got approached by an advertiser about serving ads in my site. I've been keeping the site free of ads all this time, but things are starting to get a bit tight so I could use the money.
Today I checked the script and it opens a pop up. They told me it's once per day per IP, but still, it's a new tab pop up, not an in-site pop-up.
Can you guys give me your input? If it's too intrusive for you I will have to reconsider it.

EDIT: Since most people hate popups, myself included, I decided not to go along with this.

Yeah, you're right, in the end it was a popup and that to me is annoying too, so I've decided to not go along with it.

ads is fine, but i dont like pop up when you click on post

If you need the money, I mean bro, I can safelist your site for my add block. It may be a bit of an inconvenience for me but, your financial well-being is more important.
