Some of you already know (and some don't) that we're posting this a bit early today because I (Brandon) am flying down to see my parents till July.
As you can see in the VERY rough video, the early stages of improving the race mechanic are underway. Getting the dash to work with pathfinding but not overshooting corners was....a challenge. But I got it done.
But suffice it to say, this is VERY rough, I haven't been focusing on polish because I want to add in all the changes to make this more fun before going back for a polish phase after the fact. But (with a couple minor bugs) you can see it working here.
The whole idea being that NOW, the ghost ALSO gets trapped in enemy rooms (and trap rooms) and undergoes his own little challenge before he can move ahead with the race as well. Making him disappear into a cloud of smoke is not finalized, though I feel like it works because it conveys the message well enough, without being too distracting, I think.
and his status updates in the race progress bar at the top as well as you can see.
Now that we're only posting 1 video a week, I'm SOOOOO excited to see how much game stuff we can get done in a month now! I don't even KNOW what I'll do with all the time this will free up!
But also, on a more serious note. I've been battling some pretty severe burnout ever since the announcement came out. It's kinda like it hit me all at once. So I think this next week and a bit off will be good for me. Hoping to come home rested and with replenished creative energy.
