I gotta love Danny in this part, despite how sad it is. He gets a confession from a little girl and a stolen kiss. We know from prior parts that he's in love with her at this point. Yet he's doing everything to avoid going too far. And now that Lily has made her move, he's stuck. He wants to give back that same affection, maybe even desperately so, but he knows it won't last forever, hence why he's hesitating and saying he needs to think about how he feels. Also love that he's not dismissing her feelings with stuff like "You don't know what you're saying" or "You're just a kid" etc. He's respecting her and just laying out the facts of their sad reality.
