The game's two developers, Ket & Red, comprise the programming and art/animation sides, respectively.
Here are their updates!
Ket's Update:
Hey everybody! I want to thank you all for being patient. I know it has been a while since the last build. I’m happy to say that Red has completed all of the Bates sprite animations! This means I can start getting the boss battle in a final state.
However, we want to make sure your first impression of the Bates boss battle is a good one, so we are waiting until everything is completed to an acceptable degree before we release a build with Bates.
We are planning to release a playable “beta version” of Bates on Jan 30, 2024.
Fortunately, we still have a new build for you now: v0.19.900, containing four new NPCs. This is also the first build to run on Android! We will be sharing this in a post immediately following this dev preview. We also have a selection of Bates previews in this post. Enjoy! =}
Red's Update:
Hey everyone. Apologies for the radio silence last month. Wanted to hunker down and get the Bates battle assets 100 percent completed and I did. We will be making preview posts about the extra assets (such as cutscene stuff) soon.
