No middle class Korean family would accept a relationship with an age gap of 20 years. It would be considered deeply shameful and his coworkers and the company would strongly disapprove. Age is the key factor in all social relationships in Korea. That can't be overstated. It's why having a boss who's younger that you is intolerable.

I know many people are always arguing about their relationship, if it's romantic or not... But I think their relationship go beyond the friendship or the romance. It's a true communion of souls, so the situation, the age gap, their personal histories... I think all of them doesn't really matter.
