If I remember correctly, the anime wasn't originally planning to have fillers which is why the pacing in the first 50-60 episodes are such shite. After they start doing filler arcs the pacing gets so much better.

i once said, "you havent reached shippuden yet", this is why bro, the pacing is dog shit, the next arc's pacing is also quite slow, but the arc after the filler is where shippuden begins, please just hold out hope for this show because it really develops into a great story

Just to make sure just watch the first 3 or so episodes of the next arc it mostly not filler. It might be only the first 2 but it has important information in it.
