The thing that Aizens men gave him was a piece of a soul and Aizen was feeding it to the hogyoku. Those men took a piece of Rangikus soul, so Gin has been trying to get it back all this time. She could probably be a lot stronger if she got it back!

At this point Aizen has more faith in Ichigo than Ichigo himself. Lmao It has always been like this tho. Aizen always believed in him and pitted him against opponents he should be able to beat. Aizen obviously knows about dangai's time difference and on purpose destroyed the train to test his powers and to allow Ichigo to train for months in dangai to come out as a challenger. Although again... it is cute that Aizen has so much faith in Ichigo. "You are supposed to be stronger than this. Don't disappoint." - Aizen to Ichigo few episodes earlier.
