Some supplementary information on Nautilus/Eiji, he has a mild case of “FullDive Nonconformity” basically the NerveGear had trouble properly communicating with his brain. Since it’s a mass-produced product instead of being custom fit for everyone, that happens sometimes. Some people can’t use FullDive machines at all, at least not if they aren’t custom fit to their brains, others can use them, but some senses are slightly off or stuff like that, sometimes it’s to a degree where it wouldn’t even be a big deal in a normal game but in a Death Game it would be a fatal flaw. Eiji’s case was one of them, through the FullDive Nonconformity his movement was impeded whenever he was afraid, so in situations when normally people could just power through the fear and keep fighting he would freeze and be unable to move regardless of what he wants to do. No problem in a normal game where you don’t have any reason to be truly afraid but if it’s a death game, you are crippled. Also FYI you might have noticed that for some reason Suguha/Leafa was barely in the main part of the movie, that’s because they specifically wrote her out of it, since she would have beaten up Eiji and ended the move at the halfway point when she saw him attack Asuna & Silica. Kirito managed to beat him by just getting used to moving IRL, Suguha is an actual national level athlete/Kendoka and way better at combat IRL, if Kirito can beat Eiji, Suguha would make him her bitch. There is actual interviews with the writers talking about how they had to get rid of her for the majority of movie because she would just beat Eiji up. Also just to offer a different perspective on Eiji, imagine Kirito was in his place. Asuna actually died in SAO and after the game being cleared, and Kirito being prevented from just committing suicide, Asuna's father comes up to Kirito and tells him about a way to be reunited with Asuna. Then he gives him the details of the plan and equipment to make sure he can do what he needs to do (like that exo suit that Eiji was wearing). Do you think Kirito would hesitate to use whatever means necessary, no matter how cowardly it is or how much it would put others in danger, in that moment? In the end Eiji was just a traumatized teenager whose vulnerable emotional state was taken advantage off by a desperate adult.

Well part of the point is that that book is ridiculously embellished, Kirito didn't have that kind of reputation. He had a reputation of being a beater, being one of the few solo players remaining on the front line, being one of the best players on the frontline, having a Unique Skill and being beaten by Heathcliff, another wielder of a unique skill and the leader of the KoB. So he had quite the reputation but it wasn't that. That he "defeated" Kayaba in the end (well more precisely he and Asuna showed Kayaba something that made him let himself be beaten) is something that mostly only those that were there during the 75th Floor Boss Raid, and those involved with him, know about. And SAO is treated as a taboo subject so people aren't going around sharing their stories, besides maybe with their therapist/counsellor.

Glad you liked the Movie, the quality of Season 3 is almost as good as Ordinal Scale. A1 Pictures really put the effort/budget into Season 3, even getting Ufotable (Known for Demon Slayer and the main Fate series) to help animate it. Plus its also got the Best OST's SAO has to offer imo
