Except that OVA 3-5 have an actual plotline that integrates into the series pretty seamlessly, gives characterization for the some characters and introduces characters that S2 expects you to know at the start of it, even if they are minor characters. It's not about what has to be watched, if you are going for that technically nothing HAS to be watched, but about there being content that is definitely worth watching if you enjoy slime.
