For the internal battery solution, it's not stated in the anime but after a certain amount of time without a certain percentage of battery, the brain frying will happen. There are others like network connection and such with different conditions but yea.

Actually low key super excited about this. The first two seasons of this show are incredible and some of the best storytelling in anime. There ends up being a lul, but I hear it picks back up after that.
