OK. So she isn't Russian. She is from former Yugoslavia. Name is Serbian/Croatian, but could be Bosniak etc. You might not know it but in Japanese, you don't have a "V" (Vee) sound. At least not in mainstream Japanese. Hence words like "Video" or "TV" when said in Japanese, but coming from English pronunciation sound: "Bideo" and "Terebi" (it's short for television, exactly it is "Televi"). Which means that if you have name "Irina Jelavitch (Yelavitch)" the closest Japanese person can get without trying hard to speak foreign sounds to them is "I-ri-na Ye-ra-bi-chi". Trying a bit harder if you can hear they usually call her "Bitchi - sensei".
