Aye they did like 2 years ago, he also only reacted to E10 as the last episode so it's a combination of memory from 2 years ago and also finishing the final 3 episodes, you couldn't just watch those final 3 without understanding and remembering what happened to lead up to those final 3

Something about this season is that they skipped an entire arc of the light novel—a whole book, actually. That's why some things may sound confusing or lack context, including mentions of characters you don't know. But anyway, that arc is coming in the new Overlord movie. So many things will make sense. The movie is chronologically set after the arrival of the Sorcerer Kingdom in E-Rantel and before this season.
