well. my heart is so broken rn :( i know he was battling anxiety at one point, but i didn't know there was depression too and that it was severe. thank god for yunho and thank god for mingi for pulling himself through that day

This song was really personal for Mingi and Yunho as it’s really representing Mingis mental health struggles and Yunhos desire to be there for Mingi and help him through it. They talk a lot in interviews and stuff how much Mingi relies on Yunho and how Yunho is always there for him when he’s feeling down. When they were figuring out who was doing what unit songs Mingi said the only person he wanted to do this song with was Yunho. The masked people I think are supposed to represent inner demons and insecurities!

Mingi wrote Youth when he was on hiatus for his anxiety! It’s about his struggles with anxiety and wondering why he has so much sadness in his heart. And then Yunho helped write his own parts and it’s sort of supposed to be like he’s answering Mingis call for help and telling him to find comfort in him, his best friend, and he can have a place to rest somewhere in his heart.

For "Matz" they're talking about their experience as idols. How industry saw them as nothing but screeching boys. The GPS part was bc one saesang put a GPS device under a car to track their home location. And in general the song is (hj told this himself) about two sweet older brothers who are ready to become biggest villains if that's what they'll need to do to protect younger brothers no matter on stage or in real life

Yunho, Mingi, Wooyoung and San are all considered main dancers! For "Youth" it was reflection on Mingi's hiatus. Mingi was battling depression and anxiety so he showed that and Yunho sang about having someone on a line of death. There's a story that during one very bad moment during hiatus Mingi called Yunho sobbing and if Yunho didn't pick up Mingi may not have been with us anymore

I can second this, Tunnel is definitely one to listen to, and Untitled as well. His singing is severely underrated, and it's so good.

Madzo

I'd recommend listening to Mingi's Tunnel and Untitled: his singing voice is remarkable for someone who's not a trained vocalist. There's this rawness and angst in it that always gets to me.
