Yeah getting bacteria cultures unless you work in a College Lab, etc it will be extremely difficult. GMO yeasts for Project even with a Permit can cost 1000 of dollars.

Yep! Do one on how wastes partically heavy metals salts can be safely handled would be cool. Like Thallium, Lead and Mercury, etc.
