Progress Update
Welcome to another developer development update for One Week Heroine. Work has been steadily progressing on both the game’s art and writing fronts.
Molly’s artwork is finally completed, including all of her facial expressions and outfits. They have now been implemented in-game (and boy does Molly look cute). My awesome artist has now started work on three more characters. For now I will be using placeholder art for the VN backgrounds but those too will be updated after all other art has been completed.
Writing-wise, I have estimated the total word count of One Week Heroine: around 200,000 words, and that’s not including the scripting. There is a lot of work to do but I am looking forward to it!
The main mission and training hub in the game has been created and linked to dummy scenes which are yet to be added. The in-game shop, including the icons have also been created. Most of the music, sound effects, and special effects have been added into the game and are ready to be added to future scenes.
Now onto this week’s topic! Today we will be looking at some of the friendly characters you can expect to see in OWH, including a look at our main character.
Who do you work for!?
In One Week Heroine, you are a part of the Counter-Operations Protection Agency (C.O.P.A. for short). C.O.P.A. is a clandestine espionage agency that works to overthrow corrupt governments throughout the globe. Whilst C.O.P.A.’s methods have proven to be controversial in the past, there is no questioning that they get results.
As a quick note, I have purposefully left it vague which country C.O.P.A. works for. As the game is set in an alternate universe, this allows me to expand upon the world of OWH later in spin-offs or expansions if the game turns out to be a hit. I’d also like to avoid commenting on any ongoing global conflicts.
Handler EX
This is the young but experienced Handler EX. He is the main male character of OWH and you will be primarily controlling his actions which will shape the game as you play. However, this does not mean he is a bland blankslate. He loves his job, and is extremely adaptable. His main flaw: he is deathly afraid of cats, and unfortunately, cats are everywhere in his current operation zone.
EX’s job is complex, as a C.O.P.A. Handler, he is responsible for handling agents in the field. He provides these Agents with tactical support, equipment acquisition, and on-job training. EX is one of the youngest Handlers in the history of C.O.P.A. and he knows his future in C.O.P.A. rides on the results of his Agents.
Quincy
This is the prototype espionage AI called Quincy. His gigantic machine mind is located within the C.O.P.A. hideout. This unfortunately means he is unable to leave the hideout without a C.O.P.A. relocation crew. Luckily, location matters very little to Quincy, he is plugged directly into the grid and is able to access doors, mess with traffic lights, and even turn off cameras. For an AI, Quincy is quite quirky, he often gets very defensive when you call out his flaws and he just loves waking up EX every morning.
Quincy’s main role is to provide technical support during missions and to keep on top of any new intelligence that pops up.
Agent Ginger Piper
This foxy lady is Agent Ginger Piper. Unlike Molly, Ginger is confident, bold, and her hand-to-hand combat ability is astounding. She has been a C.O.P.A. Agent for several years and a good portion of those have been working with EX. However, Ginger’s confidence often strays into overconfidence. This has landed her into precarious situations more than once.
Ginger, like Molly, is a field Agent. She is out there risking her ass (sometimes literally).
Until next week!
That is all I have to share today. I hope you enjoyed this short look at some of the supporting cast of OWH. Next week I will be going over the in-game mission hub as well as Quincy’s fabrication shop.

Thank you for this update and for making the patreon! Much more accessible site for me ❤️ Ginger seems like she knows a few unorthodox methods of espionage 😉
