I’d left the TV on displaying the Mario Golf start screen and gotten up to pad down the short hallway from the living room. I didn’t bother to check the peephole and simply opened the door, my heart racing a little in anticipation.

I shrugged. “Perfect Dark? Smash Bros.?”
“What else you got?”
“Multiplayer? Mario Kart, F-Zero X. If you want to switch to Playstation I’ve got GT2, Street Fighter Alpha 3…”
“Let’s play GT2,” she stated matter-of-factly, kneeling to turn off the N64 and fish out my Playstation from the TV console.
