"she is already starting to show some strain". She's a first-semester Freshman taking 21 hours at Berkeley. The administration should have refused that, and her friends should be forcing her to drop a class.

Upon a second, slower read through of this chapter shows another group land mine. Matt's desire to explore more of a romantic relationship with Naimh. He want's more from Sam but still wants to see where he and Naimh's relationship can go to. Really? Looking forward to also maybe hearing from other original BTC girls or perhaps a message from Beverly??

Well, okay. Five girls are now sorta back in sync and Sam's issues have been addressed (for the present). Now maybe we will see how Skylar fits in this very interesting and changing dynamic.

Wookey

There is never a day that is not improved by reading a new chapter

I'm not gonna lie... this is a chapter I was very much worried about. I could just as easily have seen Sam take a lot of offense to what Belle was saying or complain that everyone was starting to pressure her (even if it was only her perception). The fact that she came into the discussion of like mind was a relief. And with that, a few observations... 1. This, by no means, is the cure-all for what's going on with Sam. Two months into the first semester of freshman year, and she is already starting to show some strain. And instead of stepping back for some serious stress relief with her man and her closest friends, she seems diving deeper down the rabbit hole. One can only assume that this is Sam's MO, and Matt should probably talk with Zofi to see if she has any insight on how to best keep Sam from cracking... since this likely isn't the first time and CERTAINLY won't be the last. From this exchange alone, it's obvious Sam needs more time with Matt, not less... and I don't just mean sexual. She sleeps better, she feels better, she is more relaxed. And she needs to TALK to him about what she's doing with more frequency. It's obvious he has no idea what kind of stress she is actually under. I truly am rooting for these two. Their road will be rocky, but they make the most sense into the future... 2. The discussion of Eva's actions and her being accepted by and into the BTC went exactly as expected by everyone except Eva. So, situation normal... 3. Once again, Belle is doing Belle things and being hormonal and inconsistent. She seems to have some sort of agenda, plan, or something that only she understands, yet insists that she is not the best choice for Matt as a girlfriend now or ever. The fuse on this powder keg keeps getting shorter and shorter. 4. The biggest surprise to me (although it really shouldn't be) is Matt. The whole "Head Girlfriend" discussion kinda went on without him, as did the decision that was made. Matt had said over and over (mostly to Naimh) that he didn't really want a Head Girlfriend anymore. De facto leader of the BTC is a different thing, but it seemed like in Belle's monologue, she lumped them both together. So when Sam called for votes, instead of sticking to his guns and saying he wanted to eliminate the HGF title, he raised his hand for Naimh taking the mantle. At some point, Matt is really going to have to become a bit more assertive in the decisions surrounding his social life. I know it's a common theme among your male protagonists (Matt, Ben, John, even David) that they go with the flow with whatever decisions their women make for them... Matt more than most. But at some point, Matt will have to stop depending on whichever girlfriend is in charge of the group to sift through all the flotsam and make his complicated love life make sense and *take an active role*.
