The weight of another human being was pressed against my chest, with the weight of a second human being also pressed against my back. I’d woken up in this position often enough to figure I had two girls in bed with me, but at that very moment, I wasn’t sure which ones.
I really shouldn’t have complained. First world problems, I know. Still, the gears of my higher-thought processes weren’t functioning correctly yet, and I grimaced against the unwelcome pain in my head while trying to manually force those gears into motion by asking it several pertinent questions:
Where am I?
What day is it?
Who am I with?
The answers started coming to me soon enough. I realized the unfamiliar room was the master bedroom of our rented Mammoth Mountain house. I realized it was New Year’s Day. And I realized I must have Eva in front of me and Naimh behind.
The silky curtain of Eva’s jet-black hair was tucked beneath my chin. I was spooned behind her thermal-underwear-clad body, both arms wrapped around her as if she were my personal teddy bear. She remained unmoving, hugging my right arm to her chest like it was her personal teddy bear. Her breathing was slow and steady in her unconscious slumber, her face calm and peaceful with the expression of one feeling safe and loved.
The body of the girl behind me shifted and the sounds of her breathing were shallower and more rapid, like those of someone already awake. I also realized that her large, pillowy breasts seemed to be pressed against the back of my head rather than against my back. So it would seem that she was in a more upright position than would be typically comfortable for sleep.
Taking a deep breath, I slowly slipped my right arm free of Eva’s grasp and reached back to rub my Irish Head Girlfriend’s ass. “Dia duit, Squeakers,” I greeted softly, careful not to wake Eva.
“Um, I don’t speak Gaelic,” Skylar replied uncertainly. “And since when did you start calling Neevie ‘Squeakers’?”
I stiffened in surprise and turned my head a little too abruptly. I must’ve also shifted Eva with my right arm, because she whined in her sleep like a tween girl who didn’t want to wake up early for her middle school’s first period. But I didn’t have time to worry about her given the sudden headache splitting my hangover-suffering brain, and I groaned while letting go of Skylar’s ass to clench my eyes shut and rub my forehead.
“Sorry. Didn’t mean to startle you,” the English Rose apologized softly as she rubbed my hip.
Eva groaned and started to straighten out her spine. I groaned and rolled over onto my back, with Skylar shifting slightly aside to give me room. Already dressed in winter wear, she sat upright, planting her left hand flat on the mattress with her legs folded to her right. I sat up and scooted myself back a bit until my shoulders were braced against the headboard with the pillows supporting my lower back. And as the initial pain of my headache passed, I cracked my eyelids open to peer up at the blonde in my bed.
“Where’s Neevie?” I asked, my tongue feeling thick.
“She woke up an hour ago and slipped out rather than wake you,” Skylar explained softly. “Everyone’s downstairs, actually, except for you two.”
I groaned and rubbed my eyes. Eva was moaning and rubbing her eyes as well, even though she was facing away from me and couldn’t have known I was doing so. A moment later, she rolled over, bumped into my side, wrapped her left arm and left leg over both of my legs, and buried her nose into my hip. From the expression on her face, she was certainly feeling as hungover as I was.
“What time is it?” I asked blearily.
“Half ten,” she replied. “Sorry to wake you, but the schedule apparently dictates that we leave here at a reasonable time to pick up ski rentals and then buy half-day lift tickets. Sam booked group ski lessons for some of us, so we actually need to arrive on time. And when she suggested someone should come up here and wake you, Neevie volunteered me.”
I chuckled and nodded slowly. “I’m sure she did.”
“You don’t look pleased to see me.” She pouted prettily.
“Of course I’m pleased to see you,” I assured her. “I’m just hungover. And honestly, at this very moment I’d have preferred to stay in the void of blissful unconsciousness rather than wake up right now.”
“Mmph-mmph,” Eva muttered against my hip.
“Eva says, ‘Me too’,” I translated while stroking Eva’s back.
Skylar chuckled and nodded, smiling down at the semi-conscious girl slumbering against my side.
“Did you sleep well last night?” I asked.
She nodded slowly. “Very well, thanks for asking.”
“You did once tell me that you only slept in your own bed. Period.”
Skylar chuckled. “Well that was before you and I started… ah…”
“‘Shagging’?”
“Well I was actually going to say ‘smashing’, but yeah…” Skylar shrugged. “And I’ve obviously slept in hotel beds and the like whilst on holiday. The bed here was fine. And after so much… smashing last night, I was too worn out to care much about mattress quality.”
“Did you enjoy all the ‘smashing’?” I gave her an appraising look. “I know that was your first time with all the girls.”
“I didn’t ‘smash’ ALL of the girls.”
I furrowed my eyebrows and thought back on last night. My memory was somewhat fragmented and a little out of order, but I didn’t feel like I had any major gaps. “Zofi you’d already been with, so no surprise you hooked up with her, and there was no way Neevie was going to pass up her first chance to finally find out what you taste like. You were getting pretty cozy with Luna there, I recall, and spent most of the night with her. And… huh… was that really it?”
Skylar arched an eyebrow. “Is it really such a surprise when a girl doesn’t dive face-first into a bunch of strangers’ crotches within hours of meeting them?”
“Well Belle and Sam certainly aren’t strangers. And you did quite readily hook up with Zofi last…” I let my voice trail off at Skylar’s withering gaze and gave her an apologetic wince. “I’m sorry. You’re right. I suppose it just goes to show how warped my view is of the natural world when I… well, yes… I suppose I did expect you to just dive face-first into everyone’s crotch.”
“You’d think you would’ve learned from me,” Eva muttered into my hip, her eyes still closed.
“I’m sorry,” I repeated to Skylar. “I really shouldn’t have assumed.”
“It’s alright. I’m not upset with you. I’m not surprised you made such assumptions after all the things I said to you about eagerly and enthusiastically joining The BTC and sampling all there is to offer: from snowballing with Belle to wearing matching lingerie with all the girls.”
“We did all wear Sanrio bikinis last night,” Eva pointed out, opening her eyes, taking a deep breath, and then shifting slightly to pillow her cheek on my thigh and look up at us. “And then of course there was that little moment in the hot tub when you sat on Matty’s dick with all eight of us putting our hands on your arms and shoulders.”
“That was a little intense, actually,” Skylar said with a nervous look. “Don’t get me wrong: it was amazing to feel so much love and support from everyone, especially for a girl they barely knew. But it was still… ah…”
“Intense?” I finished for her.
Skylar nodded. “It’s one thing to be told The BTC is this super-tight-knit group of girls who all rally together and look out for each other’s interests, share without jealousy, and live like the motto ‘All for one, and one for all’ really means something to them. But then… it’s…”
“It’s quite a different thing to see it with your own eyes,” Eva finished. “Believe me: I know the feeling.”
Skylar nodded again. “I’ve had circles of friends before. I’ve had best friends and what I’d thought were tight-knit cliques of girls in high school and college. I shared my innermost thoughts and feelings with some of them… occasionally, but not everything. We never had the kind of open acceptance I see between these girls. And then of course, I’ve never been around a group of girls with this level of casual intimacy. Like when Mari started riding him in the hot tub and everyone else just continued their conversations like nothing was out of the ordinary… It was a bit of a shock, to be honest.”
I frowned and reached out to squeeze her hand. “I’m sorry if it all felt a little overwhelming. I should’ve noticed your discomfort and--”
“You really need to stop apologizing so much, Matty,” Skylar lightly chided me. “None of this is negative. It’s quite special, really. You’ve spent the better part of the year telling me about your relationships with each of the girls, and even some of the conflicts between them, so I felt like I already knew them a bit, even though some of them I’d never even met. I thought I had some idear of what to expect. You’ve told me so many stories of out-of-control orgies with six, seven, eight girls at a time that I thought I was prepared to see one for myself. But then last night happened and… and…”
“It was all a little overwhelming?” I finished for her.
“So you hung back a bit in your own comfort zone,” Eva remarked. “I can relate.”
I took a deep breath. “I’ll talk to the girls. Remind them not to pressure you or do anything to make you feel uncomfortable.”
“Matty, Matty, Matty,” Skylar chided, her clipped English accent somehow making her tone sound even more disapproving. “I’m not complaining, and I’ve told you before that the last thing I want to do is be a wet blanket smothering the girls’ holiday. I don’t want them tiptoeing around me trying to not rub their sexuality in my face.”
“Oh you don’t need to worry about that. Trust me,” Eva drawled. “Once those girls get going, they’re perfectly happy to have wildly uninhibited sex anywhere and everywhere and won’t give a fuck if you’re right in front of them. They’ll just consider you a spectator and let you make up your own damn mind to get involved or not.”
Skylar nodded. “Basically what they did last night.”
Eva nodded as well, and with a deep breath, she pushed herself upright and then sauntered into the master bathroom.
Still holding Skylar’s hand, I squeezed her fingers. “I just want to make sure you’re comfortable with what’s going on. I assumed you’d jump in with both feet and fit in like you’d been BTC all your life. But it’s not that simple, and I want to do whatever I can to make you feel welcome and part of the group.”
“Thank you. I appreciate that.”
I winced. “And I feel like I completely neglected you last night. You tell me not to apologize, but I really am sorry about that.”
“Don’t be. You were obviously happy to see all the girls, and I didn’t feel neglected. I really was feeling sore and not particularly in the mood for you to stretch me wider than I’m used to. Plus, I really don’t like to be put on the spot and made the center of attention. I didn’t really factor that into my own expectations of how last night would play out. So when we did that small thing in the hot tub and all the girls put their hands on me…”
“You felt put on the spot,” I finished for her. “You felt like the center of attention.”
She winced. “I did. I know I’m the new girl. I know that your pack of voyeuristic girlfriends are all eager to watch me having sex with you. But…”
“But you were nervous. I understand.” I took a deep breath. “Let’s just give it some time. The more you hang out with us, the more the girls will get used to your presence. It’ll be less of a novelty after a while, nobody’s gonna pressure you, and if and when you decide you want to, I’ll leave that up to you.”
“Even if it means you and I never have sex for this entire trip?”
I shrugged. “You mean far more to me than a body to have sex with. Haven’t I made that clear enough?”
Skylar smiled and quickly leaned in to give me a quick kiss. “You have. You have.”
“I’m in no hurry to accelerate our relationship. Our friendship means everything to me, and I’m happy to take things at whatever pace you feel comfortable with.”
“I appreciate that.”
I squeezed her hand and gave her as reassuringly warm a smile as I could. “You’ve been through a LOT lately. Family. Friends. School. Work. The last thing I want to do is make your life any harder than it already is. But it’s a new year now. This is a chance to make a fresh start. New group of friends to get to know…”
“New boyfriend in my life to bring me joy…”
I arched an eyebrow. “Am I your boyfriend now?”
Skylar waggled her head, thought about it, and then corrected, “New… man… in my life to bring me joy. Physical joy. Emotional joy. And comfort and reassurance and… And maybe love?”
I wrapped my arms around her and squeezed. “I promised to be whatever you need me to be. I’ve been so careful to focus on not ruining our friendship that I’ve honestly tried to keep my heart and any sense of love at bay. But I admit that it would be very easy to fall in love with you, Skylar, if that’s what you really want.”
Trembling just a little, Skylar took a deep breath and glanced up into my eyes. “I’m scared,” she whispered nervously.
“I know you are.” I squeezed her tighter.
“It’s a new year, right?” she asked, nodding her head slowly. “A fresh start. A blank slate. A chance to rebuild my life better than it ever was before.”
I nodded, stroked her cheek, and rubbed the back of her head. “It is.”
Skylar smiled. “Happy New Year, Matty.”
I kissed her quickly and then smiled. “Happy New Year.”
