“But I’M not going to settle for just surviving anymore. We’re going to thrive,” I continued. “I’m going to step up, be stronger than I thought I would be, and demand your attention when I need it. I’m not gonna be scared of making you angry. I might very well force you to choose between me and some Pre-Law function you were really looking forward to attending, because you’ll need that reminder that I mean more to you than the never-ending deadlines in your life. Sam reached up to clasp the back of my hand tighter to her arm. “We will,” she agreed.

Because like you said: I was always quite happy to see you outside of E10 all of last semester, and now E7 this morning. Naimh took a deep breath and sighed. “I know what you’re trying to tell me. I appreciate it. I know I probably spend too much time agonizing over how things could have been better instead of recognizing what went right.”
“You thrive on positive feedback, and I haven’t given you enough of that lately. I’m sorry.”

I chuckled. “You’re right, you’re right. Okay, instead of apologizing, I’ll tell you what I’m going to do to be better: I’m going to give you more positive feedback. I’m going to say ‘thank you’ more often. And I’m going to encourage everyone else in The BTC to do the same.”
“You don’t have to do that.”
“Yes I have to do that. And I’m going to do that.”
Naimh made a face. “You make it sound like I’m a pathetic weakling with no self-confidence who needs external praise in order to feel good about myself.”
I shrugged. “I’m a pathetic weakling with an abandonment complex and a deep-rooted need to please the emotionally unavailable women around me as a desperate attempt to fill the empty hole in my heart left behind when my mother wouldn’t love me.”
Naimh blinked in surprise at me.
“‘Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,’” I quoted. “This is what real love for the long-haul feels like. We’re not kids anymore. We’re at a point in our relationship where we don’t need to try and protect each other’s feelings behind little white lies. This is me trying to be completely truthful with you. In fact, this is kind of like how I am with Belle.”
Naimh blinked again. “Belle?”
“Belle and I grew up together. We never developed filters in the first place. My relationship with you doesn’t have the same duration in years, but we’re getting closer emotionally. You wanted to understand what you mean to me beyond ‘the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen’, right? You wanted to know that I’ll still love you even when we’ve both grown old and our good looks have faded away.”
“Well, I wanted to know you’d still love me when MY good looks faded away. I never implied that you’re good-looking. I mean… you’re alright I suppose…” Naimh muttered with a wink.
I barked a quick laugh and leaned in for a quick kiss. Naimh happily gave it to me before pulling back with a wry grin.
“You ARE the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen,” I told her sincerely. “Inside and out. You’re a sweetheart who is always looking out for everyone’s best interests, always cognizant of the group. You’re a people-pleaser, and you need visible validation that people are pleased.”
Naimh made a face at that pronouncement and lowered her chin.
But I tipped her chin back up with her fingers and looked her in the eyes. “That’s not a criticism, even if you seem to be taking it that way. It’s not a weakness to want to see your friends happy. I’m a people-pleaser myself, and for years I’ve found my life’s purpose in making sure you girls are all well-pleased. And yes, I’m including physical pleasure along with emotional satisfaction.”
She cracked a fresh smile, but at the same time, I could visibly see her internally berating herself for craving the visible validation I’d just spoken of.
“It’s not a weakness to want your friends to be happy,” I repeated. “It’s perfectly valid to find motivation in positive feedback. Sam is fueled by achievement. Belle seems fueled by anarchy sometimes. You’re fueled by joy, and I’m going to make sure you get it.”
She gave me a brave smile and mumbled, “Thank you, Matty.”
“But just because you want everyone to be happy doesn’t mean you should bury your negative emotions. Don’t try to hide your true feelings.” I took a deep breath, images from my dream of the future still fresh in my mind. “I want to make sure you understand how important that is to me. I want to make sure you’re going to squeak up when you want something that seems to be at odds with what I want. I want to make sure you and I are on the same page, that you never tell me white lies or bury your true feelings just because you don’t want to argue with me. Like right this second because you don’t want to admit that you don’t like arguing with me.”
Naimh blushed so that her freckles started to disappear, lowering her eyes and chin in embarrassment.
I lifted her chin again. “Squeak up.”
“Squeak-squeak,” she mumbled with a brave smile, although there were tears in her eyes.
“We’re gonna make it,” I reassured her. “Not because of passion or white-hot chemistry or because it’s absolutely divine feeling my big dick plunging deep into my Sacred Buttslut’s sacred core – although all those things are totally awesome. We’re gonna make it because you are irreplaceable to me. Irreplaceable. Throughout all the ups and down of this past semester – Sam’s absences, Belle flitting around here and there, Lily and Eva and Skylar and Izzy and Luna, the NBGs visiting and leaving - you have been the most dependable presence in my life. You’re the key to The BTC staying together. You’ve put in all the hard work, and I want you to know we all recognize that as a fact. I fell for you and wanted to be with you from the first moment we met, but it’s because of everything you’ve done for me and all the other girls that I love you even more today.”
“I love you even more today, Matty.”
Naimh wrapped her arms around my neck and shoulders. She got up on her tiptoes, crushed her lips to mine, and suddenly her taste filled my lips, her scent filled my nose, and my world exploded.
Like a supernova.

“Fuuuuck, yeahhh…” Amada Luna Garcia Cruz groaned, her supple flesh yielding to my rhythmic stroking motions. The self-professed ‘flat-chested beanpole’ was of average height, with thick brown hair and kind, expressive brown eyes typically tucked behind delicate eyeglasses. But she’d presently removed the eyeglasses and set them on the coffee table in front of her to relax and let her head loll forward to give me free access to her neck.
Despite the fact that Luna and I weren’t “like that”, she still felt comfortable enough around me to both remove her sweater and pull the spaghetti straps of her bra down to her upper arms, likewise giving me free access to her shoulders and upper back. I pushed and probed with my strong hands and fingers, gently working out her muscle kinks. And for several minutes, she made no sounds except to moan or groan in response to my massage.
Not that the room was silent. Everyone else was more than happy to keep up a steady conversation.
I smiled as I surveyed my living room and took in the sight of six beautiful young women surrounding me. Classes were over for the day, and everyone currently considered part of The BTC 2.0 were present and accounted for. Luna was of course seated directly in front of me on the couch receiving her backrub. Eva reclined sideways in the armchair with both of her long legs hooked over the left armrest while Sam and Belle sat together on the other couch with their coursework binders in their laps, but the three of them carried out an animated conversation rather than engage in any actual studying. It was the first day of the new semester and nobody had homework anyways. And Naimh and Skylar had just gotten up to head into the kitchen and start making dinner together.
For a while I sort of zoned out while automatically going through the muscle-memory set of massaging moves I’d developed since the early days of high school. I thought about the household chores I’d need to do now that we were back in the house: vacuuming, dusting, washing, shopping, cooking, car-maintenance, etc. I thought about my classes: the chapters I’d need to read, the assignments I’d need to complete, and the new weekly routine I’d have to get accustomed to. And I thought about the girls’ schedules and how they intersected with mine: which girls would be around at the same time as me on which days to walk to and from class, meet up for lunch, or have afternoon study sessions.
Life with one girlfriend could be complicated enough from what I was told. Life with six would undoubtedly be even more complicated. In a way, high school had been pretty easy in the sense that all of the girls would go home to their parents at the end of every day. For my first semester of college, I’d started with three live-in girlfriends in a group that grew, shrunk, and transformed in myriad ways as the weeks went by. I could only imagine how this next semester would go. True: Eva, Skylar, and Luna weren’t MY official “girlfriends”, but they were still considered “girlfriends” in The BTC, and I knew I held some responsibility for their emotional health and friendship going forward.
I was in a moment of transition. Perhaps one might not consider the first day of the Spring Semester to be as significant a transition as graduating from high school and going to college, but it felt like a significant transition, nonetheless.
Holly, Zofi, and Alice had moved on.
Mari and I were still together as official “boyfriend/girlfriend”, but she was still five hundred miles away and navigating a long-distance relationship was something we’d have to figure out.
Luna was a friend, but a committed lesbian without Zofi’s “Matty-exception”, and how to continue as truly platonic friends was something we’d have to figure out.
Skylar and I had agreed that we were “just friends”, albeit friends with benefits. I knew our friendship – and my trust – was more valuable to her than romance. But I didn’t think it egotistical of myself to believe she had some deeper feelings for me that we’d have to figure out.
And then of course there was Eva. If the quasi-romantic aspect of my relationship with Skylar was complicated, it was on a whole other level with Eva. I cared about her – a LOT. I knew she cared about me – a LOT. But I understood that she didn’t want to attach labels to our relationship, and how to balance being “Matty and Eva” without explicit definition would be something we’d have to figure out.
At least I felt pretty good about my relationships with the three official girlfriends still in Berkeley with me. My conversations with Sam and Naimh today had helped me feel a little more settled and secure, and I already knew that Belle and I would be together forever. For now, there was nothing to do but chill out and relax on this first day of the new semester until dinner was ready.
My stomach gurgled loudly on cue.
Seriously, it was as if the mere thought of food was enough to trigger its response.
Luna picked her head up and chuckled. Glancing back at me over her shoulder, she deadpanned, “Good to know that giving me a massage really does inspire your carnal cravings.”
I chuckled and shook my head. “The thing has a mind of its own.”
“Not the first time a guy has said that to me, but probably the first time the guy was referring to his stomach.” Luna winked and then closed her eyes while turning back forward when I resumed massaging her neck.
But just as I started getting back into rhythm, my cell phone started ringing. I didn’t actually have it with me – I’d dropped it by the front door in the little cubby with my keys. The only people who called me with any regularity were all inside the house. But Sam got up from her seat to go investigate, and a moment later I heard her say, “Hey, Beverly!” from around the corner.
I sat up immediately and turned my head.
A moment later, Sam returned to the living room with my cell phone to her ear, stating, “Well, not exactly busy. He’s giving one of the girls a backrub. What’s up? Anything urgent?”
Luna sat up straight and I stilled my hands on her shoulders, waiting to see what Sam might say.
The blonde looked at me and shrugged, saying into the phone, “I mean, I can have him call you back if that’s alright.”
But Luna pulled my hands off her shoulders and gestured me forward. I thought about insisting that I could finish her backrub, but she was already getting up from her seat in front of me to fix her bra straps and collect her sweater. So I gave her a grateful smile and then extended my hand to Sam.
“Nevermind. Here he is.” Sam handed me the phone.
I took hold of it and pressed the device to my ear, asking politely, “Good evening. How are you?”
“I am very well, Matthew. How are you?” she asked in that tone of uncharacteristic warmth that was nevertheless quite welcome. And I was almost surprised to find myself genuinely smiling.
And Sam was smiling at me. Luna was smiling at me. So was everyone else.
“I’m great, Mom,” I replied, closing my eyes and chuckling beneath my breath at the sound of myself unexpectedly saying the word ‘mom’ out loud. “I’m great.”

The story has evolved beautifully throughout the whole series, absolute props to you. And it’s nice to finally see Matt grow a pair of balls lol (I get he’s still a teenager and young, but it was frustrating sometimes having him submit and just get bossed around). I never imagined myself to be so involved with the development of these characters and that shows the depth you create with the writing.

This has been an outstanding continuation of BTC 1.0. You have continues to grow each character to make them unique but still able to mesh them together as you weave your story. After the last chapter on the 10th, could you let your fans know a possible time line for a BTC 3 continuation? I, like the others, are quite addicted to your world.
