I use CloudFlare, and they could be blocking you from accessing my site, but even CloudFlare will show an error as to why. My API is working fine and currently processing 30 million requests an hour. Showing me a video of someone else's software saying "Please Wait..." doesn't help me identify the issue at all.

I dont use CloudFlare and not getting any error. I already record a video and share you which I faced on my system. I faced same problem when I used free API, it's fixed after subscribe premium API key, but again facing same problem.

Test the API with a CURL command, it will respond within 200ms... And it will ALWAYS send a response (even if it's an error) so I need to know what is happening to help, is it a 401 error? A 403 error? A CloudFlare CAPTCHA response?

That's because you signed up a few hours ago and Patreons servers are currently processing thousands of payments at the moment (being it's the 1st of the month) so their WebHooks are being delayed/qued. I just discovered this today for myself, as they have no documentation for this. It shouldn't be much longer, and worst case I'll add them manually when I get off work (3 hours from now).

Hi Brian, I'm still getting Invalid Key. I've tried many different film IDs over the last week but always get an invalid API key message. When I tried an ODPI url quoted in another message in this thread and with their apikey I got a result returned, but changing the apikey in the url back to mine resulted in Invalid Key again. To check I was using the right key I re-requested a key and got the same value for my email address as the first time - so this looks OK. Can you please check this for me - I really want to be able to use OMDB again, it's such a great resource. Thanks. Steve.

Hey Alexander, going private/paid was a drastic move that I had to make to quickly reduce traffic by 90%. As of today it's gone down 50%, so we are almost there. I need to update the message on the description as many things have changed since then, but I do plan on providing a free service again once I finish the rate limiting code (I'm hoping to finish it during this 3 day weekend).

Hi Brian, thanks a lot for your work on OMDb, it's a great project! You say on your Patreon description you plan on keeping it free, is that still true? If so, when do you expect it will be free? The issue is that I don't run any sort of website or product reliant on OMDb, rather I just use it once every few months, doing ~200 requests for personal use. As such, it doesn't make sense for me to pay a monthly fee for something I wouldn't use every month. Could you clarify your stance on people who make minimal use of your API? Thanks :)

Idea: Why not drop CloudFlare... Setup two cheap Hetzner.de servers as caches for 44 USD/month/each... it will give you 60 TB traffic / month... Should be more than enough to handle this traffic! ... And spend the pledges for improving, developing instead! ... (I have nothing to do with Hetzner other than i'm a happy customer of them)

Email me a list of series having issues and I'll quickly fix them. Many of the episodes are in the database already but need to be requested by their specific ID because their relationship to the Series ID is not in sync, I fix many of these daily...

Yeah I understand but some API's have alot of content for my needs (Anime). In this case, Clannad is not complete. Random episodes show but only 5 out of the 20-ish episodes are there. Such as eps:1,5,13,16,23

No database (not even IMDb) is "complete"... This API however does have over 1.5 million+ movies and 4 million+ episodes/series, if you tell me what's missing I could further investigate as to why it's not showing up.

I would definitely donate to this API if the database was even complete to start off with, It doesn't handle my job but it was very easy to use Java to parse it. The Anime database is practically empty, only 1/20 Anime I searched was complete and I find that quite baffling.

That's a caching issue, if you try a different ID or change the requested size it will work.

Hi, I became a Patron today and had requested a API key. But there is some API limitation which prevents the API requests after making around 500 requests within few minutes. Is there any restriction as such? Can you please let me know.

I was given an ultimatum, shut it down or be shut down! Going private was the only option I could implement in the time frame given to instantly reduce traffic by 90% (being I could quickly copy/paste the key code from the Poster API). I never planned on creating a free service just to bait and switch people 7 years later. This isn't a permanent change and I still plan on providing a free service once I can actually enforce rate limits and build a proper registration process. I deeply apologize for my lack of foresight on how popular this API would become and my undeniable ignorance of bandwidth costs.

I agree with the fact that running the service costs you a lot of money and the donations from the Patreon is not able to cover it. But the very fact that you have all of a sudden decided to change it into a Private API without checking if implementing a request limit first goes totally against the very core for which you have started this API. It would have been okayish if you had said that the number of requests would be limited to 50 per day and I would have been cool with that. I could have lived with it. But completely eliminating it ? You tried to start something - Like an open source of data which is not under corporate control and in the end you become just like them.

Ken, CloudFlare had some isolated DNS outages yesterday, but no one else reported any issues.

Due to some security concerns on how the keys were being distributed I updated the form to email them and also changed the algorithm used, which means your older keys not obtained through email will eventually stop working. I would recommend getting a new key and using that for all future requests including non-Poster API calls.
