미움받는 다는 것
🕑 Added 2019-09-16 14:22:20 +0000 UTC“미움받는 용기” 가 필요하다고 누가 그랬던가. 나는 비교적 미움받는 것을 개의치 않으려고 ‘노력’하는 편이지만 이것이 내가 실제로 그런 사람이라는 걸 뜻하지는 않는다. ‘쿨하지 못해 미안해’ 라는 UV의 노래가 떠오른다. 난 전혀 쿨하지 않다. 사랑받고 싶고 미움받을 때 너무나 상처 받는다. 나를 미워하는 사람을 너그럽게 포용하는 것 따위 할 줄 모르고, 그것을 하는 ‘척’ 하고 난 괜찮은 ‘척’ 무던한 ‘척’ 하지만 사실은 누구보다 옹졸한 사람임을 느낀다.
갈수록 새로운 사람을 만나지 않게 되는 것도 상처받기 싫어서 더 벽을 쌓아 올리게 되기 때문이다. 갈수록 먼저 다가가지 않는 이유도 내가 건넨 관심이 무시당할까 두려워서다. 언제부터 이렇게 겁쟁이가 되었을까? 이미 나를 사랑하는 것 같은 사람들에게 마음을 주게 되고, 그들에게 아무것도 기대하지 않는 ‘척’ 하지만 마음 속 저 깊은 곳에는 ‘너희들 마저 날 떠나가면 어떡하지? 그럼 난 정말 힘들거야’ 라는 두려움이 자리잡고 있다.
미움받을 용기를 넘어, 누가 나를 미워하건 개의치 않을 수 있는 너그러움과 모두를 사랑하는 박애적 마음을 가지고 싶지만 ... 난 이번 생에는 그런 훌륭한 사람은 되지 못할거야. 나의 장점 중 하나는 나 자신을 어느정도 객관화할 줄 안다는 것이 아닐까. 난 너무 속세의 평범한, 번민하는 인간일 뿐이다. 추석에 보러 갔던 뮤지컬 ‘벤허’ 에서 메시아(예수)가 벤허(유다)에게 그랬더랬다. 저들을 용서하라... 일방적으로 잘못을 한 상대방 조차도 용서하라는, 그런 초월적 정신세계를 가진 사람이 정말 이 세상에 존재하긴 하는 걸까? 하겠지...? 나 같은 사람은 상상조차 할 수 없다. 일방이 잘못한 게 아닌, 상호 작용에서 생기는 마찰조차도 이렇게나 힘들어하니까.
오늘 인간 관계에서 어떤 스트레스 받는 일이 있었고 ... 이토록 예민하고 옹졸한 내가 스스로 너무 부족하다 느껴져서... 속상해하는 내 자신이 너무 보잘 것 없이 느껴져서 쓰는 일기.

I fully agree with everything that you guys already said. I tend do build walls as well in a 'rather not start it if it could end badly' fashion. But if I get to know somebody, everybody gets 2 chances from me. After that, I won't love the ones who hate me, I will simply ignore them instead and focus on those who mean well with me.

I'm not sure to be qualified to give advice, i build walls too. In fact, my walls are higher and larger than Trump's Mexico's wall project. I carefuly select the few people i'd like to know better and these are the one i trust to share things on me. Since you are, a public figure now, you must have some kind of walls or defense mechanism. It can be devastating to be fully exposed. Well that's what i think. You must choose carefuly the people you want to let in, it's always a risk but at some point, we have to trust our instinct and judgement. When we have been hurt in the past, it's difficult, i think, so... baby steps. 👾
If you get hurt by someone or some comments make you feel bad, you can be generous and give those people the benefit of the doubt that hurting you was not intentional. Maybe they hit you by accident, maybe their choice of words were not the best. Whatever it is, you can forgive them and turn the other cheek, so to speak. If they then strike you another time, it will only reveal their true nature and you will know they mean no good. You can cast aside those people out of your life with a good conscience. You should be clear with yourself where you draw the line, and then keep that line. Forgiving something does not mean you need to accept it.

I think it's better if we try our best to care about people even if it ends bad for us. If you get even just 1 real friendship/relationship from trying then I think it's worth the failed ones we had.
