결혼이란
🕑 Added 2019-09-19 14:05:18 +0000 UTC동생이 결혼을 앞두고 있는데 바라보고 있으면 여러가지 감정과 생각이 생긴다. 긍정적인 부분도 많지만 그렇지 않은 부분들도 당연히 있다. 일단 나와 내 동생은 5년간 연락을 하지 않았을 정도로 다른 사람이니까 어련할까.
그런데 부모님의 도움 없이 혼자 결혼을 준비하는 동생이 검소를 넘어 인색한 모습을 보이는 것을 보면서 좀 복잡한 생각이 들었다. 가진 것이 적어도 마음이 넉넉할 수 있는데 어쩌다 더 마음이 좁고 작아진걸까? 한편으로는 마음이 아프고 한편으로는 서운하고 언짢은 복잡한 심경이었다.
자존심 강하고 솔직하지 못한 동생때문에 나는 며칠 전에도 어떤 일 때문에 너무 화가 나기도 했다. 하지만 난 한마디의 조언도 하지 못했다. 난 우선 결혼 준비를 해본 적이 없는 미경험자이고 무엇보다 어쨌든 앞으로 함께 살 사람은 내가 아니니까. 그리고 사람은 말을 한다고 변하는 것도 아니고 사실 변해야 하는 것도 아니고. 아아...그냥, 뭔가 슬펐다.
동생은 변했고 앞으로는 더 변할 것이다. 내겐 여전히 너무 낯선 동생의 남편은 앞으로 동생의 가장 가까운 곳에서 함께 하며 두 사람은 점점 더 닮아가겠지. 문득 결혼이란 게 엄청난 것이구나 싶다. 두 사람이 맞추어 살아가는 것은 엄청난 일이구나. 두 사람만의 세상이 생기는 것이구나.
그리고, 이제 나를 포함한 주변 사람들이 어떻게 보든 어떻게 생각하든 간에, 동생의 세상이 넉넉하고 행복했으면 좋겠다.

Valid point about the translation, I double checked with Google and that keeps going back and forth between brother and sister. I edited my comment above accordingly. Btw, I would take Music Hall classes, too, but I think I better stick with learning Korean first ㅋㅋ

Maybe you guys can't know that but i think she talk about her younger sister, Papago might be wrong. I think the word "동생" just mean "younger sibling". She can confirm or deny but i'm pretty sure that's her younger sister's wedding she talks about. And yes, congratulations ! Maybe it's a good thing, you not being married yet i mean, because some of us are taking Music Hall classes and we need more time. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ just kidding. :P Anyway, i bet in few years, there will be AI husband that looks like the real deal, but better. :D

Congratulations and Best Wishes for your sister's marriage. Life means constant change, if we like it or not. Some changes are small and some are bigger, like marriage. In the book of life every day is a new line, every month a new paragraph and each year is a new page. There are a few events in life that mean starting a new chapter and marriage is one of these big events. If the characters are a good match, it will be a good chapter.

Everyone changes with time, even if their lives haven't changed. You're also living your life at your own pace, you don't have to compare yourself to someone else. Do what makes you happy, that's the important part 😄
