"Where are you going?" Morgan asked as I headed to the Beemer.

"I've got to come in for treatment, so maybe 9?" I suggested. "If Cookshack can have our order ready, I might be able to bring it back with me. I better go."

The Lions and Badgers both finished 2-5 with the Bears and Tigers both 1-6. All their wins had come against each other after all four went 0-3 in nondistrict.
It dawned on me that the Lions, who might have had the second-best talent in that school district behind the Bears, would have made the playoffs if we'd been disqualified. The Bears just never got things put together after so many of their players were disciplined (by the state association and their coach) following our game.
I wondered if Lois Westmoreland would have kept her job even without the legal issues after a football season like that as I pulled into my parking spot at Arlene's about a quarter ’til 11.
The announcers also covered our likely playoff matchup. The was still a Saturday game in the other district that could change things.
