The anime never really tells you what a Majin is or what the Multilayer Barrier that Rimuru has is, so I thought I would explain both of them. A "Majin" is a catch-all term for intelligent monsters, meaning they are creatures with a high level of intellect and magical abilities, often born naturally, through mutation, or by evolving from non-magical beings that have undergone monsterization; essentially, it signifies a high level of intelligence within the monster category. Shizu was considered a Majin because of Ifrit possessing her. The Multilayer Barrier is a series of super thin barriers that Rimuru always has just above his skin and clothes, each individual barrier protects against one of his resistances, for example he has one barrier for heat based attacks, and another for cold based attacks. It is also why his clothes didn't burn when Benimaru used Ogre Flame.
