Counselor to Cabin Baby

It had all started out so simple, just a little bit of teasing, all in good
fun of course, but it ended up being possibly the strangest summer of her entire life.
Lexi was a fairly normal young woman. At 24 years old, was 5’3 had long darkish blonde
hair, big blue eyes, an incredible figure, and a fashion-sense that some models might be jealous
of. So the fact that she was finding herself at a smelly old summer camp several states away for
the entire summer when she should be back home in LA going shopping and going to the beach
an almost criminal offense against her. She still lived with her single Mother who had made it
clear on many occasions that she was sick of Lexi lounging around the house and partying while
not doing anything to find a job.
So, to teach her a lesson she’d signed her daughter up for this position as a camp
counselor for the whole summer at a “senior girls’ summer camp” where all the campers were 18
– 20 year olds. Lexi was obviously incredibly annoyed and had no interest in the counselor
positon, but her Mother told her she either accepted the job or she was kicking her out of the
house to find somewhere else to live.
Unfortunately, for a girl who’d found nowhere to go after college, the choice for her was
obvious, and she started packing her bags.

The horrid place was called Camp Wanakorra. In Lexi’s eyes it was a disgusting, flea
ridden, rat infested garbage heap; though in actuality it was quite clean for a summer camp. Lexi,
whom reminded herself every second that she was only there because her Mother forced her to
be, would be the live-in counselors in one of the cabins that she would share with 6 of the
campers. Despite where she was though, Lexi refused to conform to the shitty camp atmosphere
and was determined to retain her LA sense of style and attitude throughout the summer. (A
choice that quickly got her some weird looks as she stepped off one of the unloading camp
busses with a perm, wearing a bright pink dress and big sunglasses, and covered in makeup and
jewelry. Not a typical camp look to say the least.)
From the moment she got off the bus she already knew this place was going to be a hell
hole as her heels got caught in the mud and flies started attacking her face. She was supposed to
be at the mall right now, getting facials and manicures with her friends, but instead she was here.
In this disgusting place in the middle of nowhere. She couldn’t believe people did this for fun?!
Lexi received her assignment that she’d be living in cabin #7 with a group of six girls
who all happened to be on the younger side as far as campers go; all 18 and 19 year olds. As
soon as she walked in, she could already tell that she had her work cut out for her. She already
knew each of them by name through the camper profiles she’d been given.
There was Brandi, a feisty little redhead covered in freckles who was as quiet as she was
shy, AKA not at all. She was practically bouncing off the walls as she started unpacking and
introducing herself to everyone.
Next was Violet, maybe the opposite of Brandi. A somewhat pale, dark haired girl who
seemed completely content sitting in her dark corner on one of the top bunks, her nose deep into
a big book while she sipped from what appeared to be tea.
Underneath Violet on the bottom bunk was Sakura, an extremely muscular girl with long
hair that was dyed a dark purple, who looked like she spent 6 hours a day in the gym, and was
dressed in just dark yoga pants, and a big sports bra. She was testing her bed seemingly for how
much weight it could sustain while she was doing a certain exercise.
On the next bunk over were two girls who looked exactly the same with big green eyes
and their brunette hair in two long braids. The twins Tina and Tori who were sitting crisscross
on the floor and discussing what Lexi could barely make out as possibly some next level physics.
They were sharing a bunk bed.
And finally, last but not least, there was Annabeth. She was as blonde as Lexi and was
wearing a crop top and denim jean shorts. She was on the bottom bunk to Brandi’s top bunk, and
was kicked back with ear buds in, her legs crossed over one another as she threw little bits of
candy up into the air and caught them in her mouth.
As Lexi walked into the door, rolling her hot pink rhinestone covered suitcase behind her,
all 6 girls briefly halted what they were doing and looked at her. The only sound in the room for
that moment was the faint sound of music behind Annabeth’s ear buds and the ‘pop!’ sound
when Lexi popped the bubble gum she was chewing, all of them kinda waiting for someone to
speak first.
