July 4-Track Song 1: Blue Sky Tempter
🕑 Added 2025-07-31 20:45:51 +0000 UTCArt by Billis Helg
The "tempter" is none other than the devil himself, who wants nothing more than for us to believe we can't live without him. Through whatever channel he's caught us up in, whatever toxic relationship you're putting behind you in hopes of a better future, he keeps calling, telling you there's no world at all out there beyond him. He's played here by Degnan Smith. The title was also inspired by hearing of an obsolete type of dessert called the "Rainbow Tempter".
Recording:
Track 1: acoustic guitar
Track 2: percussion/Degnan's vocals
Track 3: acoustic guitar
Track 4: Will vocals
Lyrics:
You can take back your blue sky
The one you said we’d be the first to fly above
The very first ones under the sun
You can have your constellations
The nights you’d tell me your tales of creation
As I watched all the stars fall one by one
“If you’re leaving me
I hope you’ve got somewhere to go to
Everyone needs a place to lay their heads
I will let you go
If you answer my questions:
Do you know where you are?
Can you put back the stars?”
You can take back your ocean
Whispering waves in endless motion
That drained into the silence of your sound
Here’s the leaves back from your forest
The wedding canopy once golden
Now brown from the dirt on my feet when it hit the ground
“If you’re leaving me
I hope you’ve got someone to turn to
Everyone needs somebody to love
I will let you go
If you answer my questions:
Don’t you miss the breeze?
Don’t you miss me?”
Of course I still miss you
And every day is a grave I dig through
But I’m breathing between the cracks of what you put me through
The angels are singing
Of the sea and the sky I’m missing
If I start to follow their song I just might break through

Oh this is one of my favorites so far. Love the guest vocals from Degnan, your voices complement one another very well! I love the title and now I'm dying to know what a Rainbow Tempter looks like. Google didn't have a consistent answer. If anyone finds out please enlighten me lol
