Yeah, you're correct. Steel ball run and the other parts after it are more like a parallel world to the og world. Even when the manga publication started it was titled JoJo at the beginning, just steel ball run. Timeline wouldn't make sense otherwise, like you said.

and i think it technically takes place after every other part of jojos cuz of the new universe so diego and johnny and zepelli arent blood relatives of the previous ones, they just paralel universe versions of those families, thats the only way it makes sense happening 2 years after when phantom blood is meant to take place
