Do you still use .psd files?
🕑 Added 2017-04-17 19:48:48 +0000 UTC I won't be doing a poll, I'd prefer if you commented, emailed or messaged me, if possible.As you might know, I send .psd files of backlog pics on occasion to $5+/week patrons, PSD is Photoshop's format, used by many other graphic programs as an "universal language" file for layered images, that way they can be open and studied. But those .psd files are not converting well some layer effects that are exclusive to Clip Studio Paint (or that are absent in Photoshop), so some of the .psd files I send in updates are turning out not showing quite the same image as the finished pic. Antithetically .clip, which is a less accepted format, can convert back into .psd perfectly. For that reason I'm going to start sending out .clip files in addition to the psd.
The question is: Do you guys still use .psd? I just don't want to needlessly bloat the size of the zips if no one is using it.

I see some people in this thread saying they can't even open .psd files, so just dropping this here: there's a free, open-source art program called GIMP that can open .psd stuff pretty competently. You'll likely see some messed-up layer effects etc. but the file will open and most everything will be there. It does NOT open .clip files though, unfortunately (Thanks Digi!)

I am not an artist so all I have are viewer programs, and maybe a couple of those can read PSDs? I usually delete them because they are so huge compared to a regular HD image.

I still use .psd since I use FireAlpaca and Photoshop Elements. I'm fine either way I suppose.

Some of the other artists I subscribe to use .psd files so that subscribers can play with the layers (dress off, dress on, etc). I don't know if I can handle .clip files. Try posting one in your next update and we can check.

Yeah I tend to skip PSD stuff as it tends to be a hassle to get to open when I use CSP instead.
I never used PSD files before, so it's fine by me :D

I primarily use CSP to open all PSD files. I've experienced opening some of my own CSP files in PS to discover that some of the later functionality doesn't transfer over but CSP has brought all PSD files over without issue. So I stopped bothering with PS completely for now.

Yeah, the .psd is a compacted collection of effects and layers, sometimes the OS thinks they are some sort of .zip file and fails to unpack them. They are actually meant to be used in a graphic program like Photoshop, Sai or CSP.
I actually can't use PSD files. My computer wants me to pay the program to extract files every single time I use it, so I use my phone, and psd files aren't compatable with mobile devices. Or at least not mine.
