(vide just shows that I can load game saves, save over them and start a new game etc without a problem, and that quests are reset when I load new games or start a new game.)
Theres still a lot of work left to make the saving and quest system work perfectly, but ive gotten really far. Ive worked through most of the hard parts, and fixed all buggs I could find, so now i mostly just need to add missing features and finish some quality of life improvements. Ive made soo many code additions and fixes that I cant remember them all ,but ive listed some updates below.
Some of the bigger game updates -
- its now possible to make generic quests, with their own dialog trees.
- one or more quests in the save game is now displayed on the save slot cards (in the load/save menu)
- quests are fully savable and loadable, with progress and everything.
- player replys can now be given their own extra quests, or end the dialog early depending on how you treated the npc while talking to him.
- quests can be added to the quest log, and each individual quest, have their own followup quests, with quests + they can also be deleted from the log/world.
- there are different quest types. Some require talking to the npc, some dont require it at all, which means not every quest will feel like youre running around talking to a quest giver, but rather more like just doing what your character wants to do.
- Loading new games in the middle of a game is possible, and will delete all the data from the previous game ran. (yeaaahhh.. this shit has to be coded manually lol.)
- some quest types an be progressed. Ex: if player walks to a location, the quest will mark its objective as finished.(still need to setup other quest types)
- quest objectives ui gets reloaded properly when progression is made.
- fixed a huge bug where the object/npc outline stopped appearing.
- Made a 'start new save' option, so that players can start playingthe game from scratch again. (yeah this kinda shit also has to be added manually lol.)
Other updates -
Other then that, ive also for the most part finished the pandaren female model, and ive started posing the animation ill be using her in. Ill show wips of it once ive finished the male who will be fucking her, right now im just using a placeholder male.
Maaaan, coding my second game has really made me realice why people usually work in teams when making games <:D I know ill be able to struggle my way through it, but damn is it gonna be a lot of effort lol.
