Summary: Part 3 of Preserving the Future. On Virmire Commander Shepard was supposed to have to choose between Kadain and Ashley. But because he took his entire squad along, he was able to save them both. Fast forward to after his death and rebirth, Ashley and Kadain are in a relationship, but after hearing the news of Shepard's return, Admiral Hackett sends Ashley to be an Alliance Liaison to the Normandy. Ashley was expecting her old commander, what she gets is much different. She enjoys it more than she knows she should.

Kasumi might have thought she was the only one who was paying close enough attention to notice something was up. In truth, she was the only one who managed to suss out the change in relationship between Commander Shepard and Operative Lawson. She was also the only one to outright witness what was happening between them… and that in turn had made her a target for Shepard’s wrath. Not that she’d ended up minding being on the receiving end of said ‘wrath’ one bit.
Regardless, Ashley Williams had known John Shepard a lot longer then either Kasumi Goto or Miranda Lawson could lay claim to. The Gunnery Chief had been there with Shepard from the very beginning, all the way back on Eden Prime. She’d fought beside him, she’d watched him do amazing things… and she’d fallen in love with him, somewhere along the way.
Ah, that wasn’t right. ‘Somewhere along the way’… that made it sound like she didn’t know the exact moment that she’d truly fallen for her Commander, and hard at that. While Ashley had certainly admired Commander Shepard as her commanding officer and the man who’d become the first Human Spectre long before the day she’d fallen in love with him… it was only after Virmire that she’d truly gone head over heels for the Commander.
Virmire was a seemingly impossible situation, at least as far as Williams had been able to tell at the time. Things had gone to shit and fast, and it’d truly seemed like Shepard would have to make a choice, to save either her or Kaidan Alenko. Obviously, Ashley had pushed for him to save Kaidan, and just the same, Kaidan had pushed for him to save her.
He’d gone ahead and saved them both along with the rest of the team that he’d assembled, proving once again that there was a reason, he was the Normandy’s Commander, as well as the first Human Spectre. Shepard did the impossible on a regular basis, and that day had just been one more instance of that. Ashley and Kaidan had both got to go on living… and Ashley had come to realize how much she cared for her Commander.
Only, it wasn’t meant to last, or so the Gunnery Chief had thought. Just a little while later… the attack had happened. Shepard had died, and she and Kaidan had been left to pick up the pieces along with the rest of the Normandy’s crew. They’d also both been left with a serious case of Survivor’s Guilt. That had been what ultimately drew them together.
Ashley didn’t love Kaidan like she had Shepard, but… she’d come to appreciate him in time. In the end, they’d fallen into bed with one another and started a romantic relationship together. However, it was one born of heartache and pain, and she’d never really been sure how long it would last. But then the source of that heartache and pain… Shepard’s revival had been announced, and with the news had come an order from Admiral Hackett. The Admiral wanted Ashley back on the Normandy Two Point O, operating as the Alliance Liaison so that they could try to repair relations with Shepard and all in all, hopefully avoid Cerberus fully digging their claws into the heroic man.
Frankly, Ashley had jumped at the chance, and though she and Kaidan hadn’t talked about their relationship at all when she’d left… she’d gotten the impression that he likely knew what was going to happen, what she was hoping to get from the Commander. She hoped, deep down inside, that he even approved. After all, they both loved Shepard, albeit in different ways.
Regardless, she’d been back in the Normandy for a few weeks now… though it was different in so many small ways, not quite the ship she remembered. Of course not, it was the Normandy Reborn… and in a way, its CO was similar. John Shepard was still much the man she’d served under previously, but he’d also changed. He was different… and yet, he was also the man that had saved both her and Kaidan on Virmire.
She could see it in his every action, in his every word. Cerberus couldn’t take away who he’d once been, no matter what they’d done to him in the course of bringing him back to life. At the same time, a person’s experiences can change them in unexpected ways, and even a hero like Shepard could be altered by things outside of his control. Ashley considered it her duty, nay, her pleasure, to provide Shepard with a familiar face, a foundation upon which to lay his new existence.
… Of course, there were her own needs to consider as well. It was a betrayal of Kaidan, she knew that… but even still, Ashley found herself knocking on the door of Shepard’s quarters one day and stepping inside when it slid open to admit her.
“Ashley.”
His voice is warm and there’s a smile on his lips as he stands to meet her, not bothering with rank or formality. That bodes well, especially given her intentions, so Ashley responds in kind.
“John… I was hoping we could talk.”
He nods, still moving to meet her, so Ashley does the same. However, despite her initial words, she doesn’t bother saying anything else. Rather, when they finally close the distance between the two of them, the Gunnery Chief grabs her Commander by his strong, broad shoulders and pulls him into a soul-searing kiss, smashing her lips against his and inserting her tongue into his mouth as his own plays catch up, though it does an admirable job of things.
Shepard freezes up for a moment, before his hands come down to rest on her hips. And then he’s kissing her back, and Ashley’s eyes widen, because he’s a shockingly good kisser. Rather, she’d fantasized about what making out with the Commander would be like… but even in her wildest dreams, it hadn’t been as good as this. Shepard was all over her in moments, spinning them both about, walking her back into his desk, leaning into her until she was practically bending over backwards.
The aggressive kissing filled Ashley with a sense of jubilation, right up until Shepard suddenly pulled away, tearing himself off of her, shaking his head as he lets out a growl that she can’t quite place and stalks across the room.
“John…”
“Gunnery Chief Williams… that was… inappropriate.”
His terse words hit Ashley like bricks, each one causing her to flinch. She flushes in both shame and embarrassment… while also being more than a little aroused from their momentary makeout session. She wanted more, but Shepard was… recalcitrant? His reaction made it clear that he wanted her just as much as she wanted him though… so Ashley refused to give up.
She’d come to him today wearing nothing but a shirt and some pants, the casual clothing provided to soldiers of the Systems Alliance. While he’s not looking at her, Ashley reaches down and grabs the hem of her shirt, yanking it over her head and letting her breasts bounce free, having made the conscious decision not to wear a bra today.
Shepard’s head whips around, but Ashley isn’t done yet. She kicks her boots off and then removes her jeans next, exposing the rest of her body, as well as the fact that she’s gone full commando. In just a handful of moves, she’s left herself standing there nude in the Commander’s quarters… and she doesn’t care. She doesn’t try to hide herself, she’s not some whimpering maiden to be afraid to have a man’s eyes on her. She’s a soldier… but she’s also a woman, and Shepard is the one she wants to give herself to.
In just three steps, the Commander is back across the room, looming over her, but Ashley doesn’t flinch away, not even when he grabs her by the arms and growls at her.
“You don’t know what you’re doing, Ashley. I… I’m not the man you once knew. Cerberus… changed me.”
Ashley bites her lower lip. Maybe he isn’t, maybe she was expecting her old commander and she’s not going to get that… but she doesn’t care. And she’s more than willing to tell him such.
“Do your worst, Commander. I’m a big girl, I can take it. More than that, I know what I want. This is what I want. You’re what I want.”
Much like his words to her earlier, everything she says to him seems to strike him like a hammer. For a moment, Ashley is worried that he’ll shatter… but the next thing she knows, she’s on her knees and his cock, a truly massive specimen that has her eyes widening at the sight of it, slaps down across her face.
“Look what you’ve done, Gunnery Chief. You better take responsibility for your actions if this is really what you want.”
Even as she takes him in her hands, and then into her mouth, Ashley is beginning to get an idea of what Cerberus apparently did to him. Or was he always this big? Ashley regrets not knowing for sure, she regrets having not tried to shoot her shot back before Shepard sacrificed himself and the original Normandy in order to save her and the rest of the crew. Either way, she’s not going to let a simple issue like size stop her… and neither is the Commander, it seems.
“Gagkh! Gagkh! Gagkh!”
Before Ashley can really even get her bearings, Shepard has his hands on the back of her head and is forcing her down the length of his cock, slamming his shaft home into her mouth and then down her throat for good measure. Eyes getting watery, Ashley looks up to see an indescribable look on Shepard’s face. Only then does she get a chance to realize what sort of monster she might have unleashed.
Spittle and saliva and drool fly everywhere as he fucks her face with reckless abandon, growling all the while, unleashing a sexual rage upon her… that Ashley nevertheless does her best to accept wholeheartedly. She’d asked for this, after all. She had to take responsibility for her actions, just like Shepard said. Honestly, she’s even starting to get into things, her hands descending down to between her thighs as he forces her lips to the base of his cock, leaving them with nothing else to do.
However, just as she’s managing to adjust a little to the rhythm… Shepard yanks his cock back, pulling out of her throat and free of her lips with a distinct pop. Ashley gasps for air, looking up at him in confusion, but before she can ask why he stopped, he’s gripping her by her hair and yanking her back to her feet. She’s sat on the edge of his desk a moment later, and then he’s inside of her. No hesitation, no foreplay, no mercy… Shepard sees what he wants, and he takes it. That just so happens to be her, right now.
Ashley squeals as his monster-sized member splits her open, causing her head to tilt backwards and her spine to arch from the sudden fullness she’s experiencing. He’s so big, so much bigger than any man she’s ever been with before… including Kaidan. God, what would her boyfriend think of her if he could see her now? Despite his best efforts to hide it, Ashley HAD come across the small box with a ring inside of it just days before Hackett’s call.
Kaidan had been intending to propose, but that had been shut down by her new orders from the Admiral, and Ashley’s willingness to follow them. It added to her guilt, that she was effectively cheating on her boyfriend, her lover… and her potential fiancé… but it was also so very obvious that Shepard needed her right now.
She’d been sure of it before even arriving on the Normandy, but now… now she was even more sure. As Shepard begins to fuck her harder than she’s ever been fucked in her life, all that the beautiful, fit Gunnery Chief can do is cling to him for dear life, wrapping her arms around his neck, wrapping her legs around his waist. And when he leans in and kisses her, when he dominates her mouth with his, forcing his tongue past her lips, Ashley… submits.
Whatever Cerberus did to Shepard, it’s quite obvious that he needs her, that only she can help him. If only she knew… but she doesn’t. Ashley Williams has no idea that the Commander is already routinely fucking Miranda Lawson and now Kasumi Goto. She thinks that she’s all he has, which is why she endures, despite how savagely he fucks her. He brings her to orgasm after orgasm as well, of course… but there comes a point where the pleasure is wholly overwhelming. There comes a time when Ashley loses all track of everything as the Commander just lays into her.
Eventually, they move from his desk to his bed. He takes her on her back, he takes her on her front, he takes her on her side. He fucks her again and again in every position Ashley knows, and some she doesn’t. He’s relentless in his ferocity… and finally, Ashley understands what Cerberus did to him. They created a monster… one that she’d provoked until he’d been unleashed upon her.
And yet, as the Commander cums inside of her for the umpteenth time, as he fills her with yet another load of his seed, having already creampied her sore, drooling quim again and again, Ashley… knows she’s right where she belongs. Even now, even as she lays there beneath him, exhausted… it’s alright. This is perfectly alright.
Finally, Shepard falls off of her, onto his back beside her. He leaves her lying next to him, staring up at the ceiling with wide eyes, her entire world rearranged. The Gunnery Chief has been thoroughly fucked silly. Truth be told, even if she feels like this is right… part of Ashley does worry, a little bit. Even if all of this is ‘perfectly alright’, it’s not really, now is it? Because as much as she wants to be there for Shepard, she’s afraid that she alone won’t be enough to handle him. Especially because even now… he’s fully erect. He’s not stopping for himself; he’s stopping for her sake… and Ashley doesn’t have the strength in her to tell him to keep going.
As if he’s reading her mind, Shepard suddenly speaks up.
“You might have to meet up with Lawson and Goto to create a schedule of some sort. Though, you’re the first to approach me during the ship’s day cycle, so at the moment you might have the monopoly on that particular time slot… even still, I don’t want to destroy the ship’s efficiency too much while dealing with my urges.”
Ashley soaks all of this in… and then uses the last of her strength to carefully turn herself onto her side and press up against the Commander, resting her cheek on his chest. He freezes for a moment in surprise, before placing an arm across her naked, sweaty shoulders. Ashley just smiles to herself, having correctly deduced that even if she isn’t the first woman on the crew, he’s… taken, she’s still the first to cuddle with him afterwards.
That was good. She could work with that. Kaidan… Kaidan would just have to understand.
