The girl, though in truth she couldn’t possibly be any younger than AJ himself, is dressed in the local attire of the planet. Jakku is a desert planet, and most of it’s a shithole. However, from what AJ is given to understand, there are SOME decent parts of the place. Like the Resort located a half a mile behind him. Not that the stormtrooper would ever get to see the inside of said resort.
No, he was on outer perimeter duty, and there he would likely remain for the entire duration of the Emperor’s Family’s vacation on the planet Jakku. That didn’t mean he could just slack off, however. He was the first line of defense, and if anything, so much as reached the other defenses, his head would be the first to roll.

AJ frowns, as he peers at her. The girl, a scavenger if her story was to be believed, had a hood up, casting half of a shadow over her features. Her accent was a little odd, but then, to be fair, he hadn’t heard many locals talking since arriving on planet. The resort that the Imperial Family was vacationing at was located pretty far from the rest of what passed for ‘civilization’ on Jakku. Certainly, far enough away from the scavenge camps the stormtrooper was aware dotted the landscape.
It was a little odd that she was out here, that was for sure. While his first instinct was to just let her be on her way, AJ-009 couldn’t possibly do that. No, he needed to follow protocols.
“I understand, miss. Unfortunately, I’m going to need you to submit to a search real quick. After I make sure you’re harmless, you can go on your way.”
The scavenger stiffens up, as he takes a step forward, and instinctively takes a step back.
“You don’t need to do that.”
AJ’s brow raises. Her accent just changed, becoming more familiar even. And… for a second there, he’d gotten a better glimpse of her face. Didn’t she remind him of someone? Why was she so familiar to him?
“I don’t?”
His amused tone makes the scavenger bristle for a moment, before she straightens her back and juts out her chin.
“No, you don’t. In fact… you should forget you ever saw me and let me be on my way.”
He’s too caught up in trying to remember where he’s heard her voice before, so he completely misses the way she waves one of her hands, while keeping her arm close to her body to hide the movement. With all that accent switching, it’s hard… but it sounds almost like she’s from Imperial Center. But there’s no way a scavenger from Jakku would be from Imperial Center, right?
Scoffing, the stormtrooper shakes his head, more amused than ever.
“Sorry miss, but I can’t do that. The Imperial Guard would have my head for that, if they found out.”
Then, because it’s really bugging him by this point, AJ peers in closer at her, trying to get an idea of WHY she’s so familiar.
“Hey, do I know-?”
Before he can even finish the sentence however, she cuts him off.
“No! You definitely don’t know who I am! Ugh, fine… go ahead, search me. There’s nothing to find.”
Sheesh, talk about haughty and dismissive. For a scavenger, she was certainly full of herself. But he didn’t get the impression she was a threat. And so, AJ-009 steps forward and begins to search her, being very respectful with his hands while he pats down her body. And it’s as she says… there doesn’t seem to be anything to find. Except… AJ is an observant sort. One might even say he’s wasted in his position as a stormtrooper assigned to the outer perimeter of a guard detail like this one. He really does deserve a promotion, but alas, one hasn’t come quite yet.
And yet, AJ is still very diligent and hardworking, regardless of being underappreciated. Which is why he notices the strange, moving shape under the scavenger’s clothing, as she fidgets under his, once again, VERY respectful touch. Eyes narrowing beneath his helm, the stormtrooper pretends to be continuing the search as regular… but his attention is on that shape now.
Its moving out of his way, into places he’s already looked. But it’s obviously SOMETHING. And so, AJ makes a decision… and abruptly pulls the scavenger’s shirt up, causing her to squawk as he seized the moving cylinder and rips it away from her body.
“AHA! What do we have… here?”
AJ blinks, as he finds himself staring at a lightsaber. Most stormtroopers might not even know what such a thing looked like, or what to call it… but AJ was a student of history in his off time. He was a bit of a hobbyist, in fact. And this, in his hands, was a lightsaber. He’d been expecting a droid or a pet or something, given the rapid movement and slithering under the girl’s clothes. But this… was…
“… I’ve gotta call this in.”
“Wait! No! You really don’t have to do that. In fact, it would be MUCH better for you if you didn’t. I can offer you quite a lot, not to expose me.”
AJ lifts his head from the lightsaber, only to stop dead in his tracks. Before his eyes, even though he was certain she’d been clothed mere moments ago, is the ‘scavenger’, completely naked. Really like this one-shot(?) but I have to admit I'm more intrigued by the possibilities of plotting out how this AU version of the Sequel Trilogy period of the SW timeline came to be. Rey seems to be the same general age she is in canon, so we're talking around 38-39 ABY...but no mention of her parents in Rey's internal monologue about how her life is as the Emperor's granddaughter and Sith Apprentice. Not a guarantee of some things remaining the same, but I suppose if "Return of the Jedi" went differently and the Empire won, any attempts by Palpatine's clone son and his spouse to flee would work out worse since Rey wasn't hidden away on Jakku as a child and kept safe via anonymity while they led Occhi on a merry chase. Be neat to see a follow-up or two where canon characters that managed to survive help Rey transition to being her grandfather's biggest headache as they help her to see that being a Sith is not a happy path. Or that Rey decides to wield some influence and get her baby daddy a promotion to be part of a personal retinue of Stormtroopers so she can better keep him safe for their kid's sake.

Meh. Decent premise, good smut, acceptable execution. But then I'm not a fan of Rey, so... Overall I give it a B-. Not your best but it could've been worse.
