Peter Parker's New Groove Ch. 35 (Marvel)
🕑 Added 2022-05-22 14:18:16 +0000 UTCA/N: Look, Emma had to make sure first~
-x-X-x-
Its not difficult, to make the decision to go and see Professor Frost. He had, after all, made her a promise, and it would not only be rude to go back on his word, it would also be detrimental to any future visits to the Institute. He didn’t want to be blocked off from seeing Jean… or the rest of her dormmates, so this was just the price he had to pay to maintain access to all his new friends.
A perfectly logical and reasonable train of thought, or so Peter felt. There was just one problem with his decision… he didn’t know where Emma Frost’s office even was. The blonde Professor had probably expected him to ask Jean to give him directions before he left her for the day. Unfortunately, the red head had been in no state of mind to do so for him.
A thought hits Peter after a moment, and he perks up before hesitantly looking towards the ceiling of the hallway he’s standing in.
“Uh, Cerebra?”
“Yes, Mr. Parker?”
He can’t help jolting a little bit at the immediate response. One would think he would be used to it, given how often he spent in Stark Tower, which was another AI-managed building like this campus apparently was, but it was different when it wasn’t Friday, he found. More than that, he wasn’t one of the more important people at the Xavier Institute. Rather, he was just a visiting guest, so why exactly did it feel like Cerebra had been on standby, just waiting for him to call out to her?
Shaking his head of such silly thoughts, Peter smiles at the ceiling.
“I have an appointment with Professor Emma Frost before I leave the premises. Would it be possible for you to give me directions to her office?”
“Of course, Mr. Parker. Continue down the hallway until you come to your left.”
Blinking, Peter follows her directions. He hadn’t really expected her to turn into his personal GPS. He would have probably been just fine with a basic idea of what direction he was supposed to go in, in order to find Professor Frost’s office. Instead, Cerebra gives him step by step instructions, which he dutifully follows until he finds himself standing in front of a large set of wooden doors.
“Here you are, Mr. Parker.”
“Uh, thanks Cerebra!”
“Any time. Have a nice day…”
Was it just him, or did her voice sound almost wistful? Hm, probably just his mind playing tricks on him. Right? Peter can’t help but think back to his thoughts when he’d first arrived at the Institute and had his original interaction with Cerebra. He’d compared her inflections to Friday and been considering whether the female AI had an interest in him, for some reason.
… He was getting distracted. Shaking his head clear of such things, Peter reaches out and knocks on the door in front of him. A response comes through a moment later after a particularly loud clearing of the throat.
“Come in, Mr. Parker!”
Cocking his head to the side, Peter pushes into the office, stepping through the large double doors. The room beyond is exactly as massive and ostentatious as the double doors would seem to imply, looking more like an old-fashioned study than a teacher’s office. But then, what did Peter know about period pieces like this one? The Institute was such a weird mix of old-timey architecture and new-age modernization that it was somewhat hard for Peter to wrap his head around sometimes.
Much easier to wrap his head around, is the reason he’s here. Emma Frost rises from behind her desk as he enters, and Peter can’t help but ask the first thing that pops into his mind.
“… How did you know it was me, Professor?”
Raising an eyebrow, those icy blue eyes of hers almost seem to pierce right through him. Or rather, they look like they’re trying to.
“I’ve known your exact location on the Institute grounds since you first arrived, Mr. Parker. As I said before, your psychic defenses are… incredibly loud and blaringly obvious to anyone with a hint of telepathic talent.”
Right, of course. That made sense. Bobbing his head, Peter carefully walks forward. Surprisingly, the office doesn’t feel quite as intimidating as he thought. There’s enough light from the setting sun coming through the windows to make it feel… almost homey in nature. Maybe it’s just that Emma Frost seems too preoccupied with the puzzle he represents to be more intimidating. Indeed, the first thing out of her mouth is spoken in a tone of… forced idle curiosity.
“Did you and Jean find anything out?”
Jolting, Peter’s mind’s eye is immediately filled with mental images of everything he’d just got done doing with Jean and her roommates for the last few hours. He can’t help but be grateful for whatever ‘defense’ he has in that moment, because Emma would certainly be seeing a lot if she COULD look into his mind.
“P-Pardon?”
Her sculpted blonde brow rises all the higher, as Emma purses her lips.
“Ms. Grey said that you and she were currently looking into the matter. I was curious to hear what you both found out.”
Blushing for a different reason now, Peter hangs his head sheepishly.
“We, uh… got distracted. So… nothing today.”
That brings forth a lengthy pause from the blonde, who stares at him silently for several long moments. Briefly, Peter wonders if she’s expecting him to ask her for her help on the matter or something. He’d considered it, but only for a second. Truth be told, he just didn’t know Emma Frost well enough to want to give her access to his mind like that. Even if she WAS incredibly beautiful…
The moment passes, and Emma lets out a sigh before gesturing to one of the chairs in front of her desk.
“Have a seat, Mr. Parker.”
All of the sudden, it feels like he’s been sent to the Principal’s Office. The somewhat friendly atmosphere of the conversation drains away so fast that Peter isn’t sure it was ever there to begin with. He’s half-tempted to say ‘no thanks, I’ll stand’… but in the end, he goes and sits down.
As soon as his butt hits the chair, Emma leans forward, staring him down.
“What are your intentions towards Jean Grey, Mr. Parker?”
Blinking at that question, Peter flushes a little bit. His intentions? Or his actions? Well, the first was much easier to answer than the second, he supposed.
“… My intentions are to be her friend, Professor. No more, no less.”
When Emma raises another sculpted eyebrow at that, Peter gets this niggling feeling in the back of his head. Her next words turn that niggling feeling into a full-blown alarm.
“And your intentions towards the rest of that dorm room’s inhabitants? Do you just want to be their friends too?”
Yep, she knew. And… of course she did. She’d already admitted that she was keeping tabs on him, hadn’t she? And only his mind was actually protected by whatever magical defense he seemingly had against psychics. The others… the others were not. Well, maybe Jean was, but he couldn’t exactly expect Rogue, Jubilee, and Kitty to be anything but open books to their gorgeous femme fatale of a Professor, now, could he?
Still… that didn’t mean Peter couldn’t be offended on their behalf. Straightening his spine, glaring daggers at Emma Frost, the young man clenches his hands into fists in his lap.
“That’s a massive invasion of privacy, Ms. Frost.”
Her eyes flicker, showing she recognizes that he’s dropped the Professor honorific in a blatant show of disrespect. Her lips thin out for a moment, but then she just smiles. It’s not a nice smile though, and it definitely doesn’t reach her flinty eyes.
“Is it true? Are you Spider-Man?”
Peter’s fists unclench in his lap just to be able to clench again as he grits his teeth, feeling angrier than he has in a long time. Sure, it was partially his fault for being so… free with his secret identity and telling an entire gaggle of girls who he really was while there was a known psychic in the building who had shown a vested interest in him. But at the same time, it wasn’t his fault that Emma Frost was apparently a Peeping Tammy.
“Yes. What’s it to you?”
He’s not sure what he’s expecting. Not sure what he thinks her response is going to be. What he gets is not what he thinks is going to happen though. Emma suddenly stands up, and between one moment and the next, her skin is reflective diamond.
“Prove it.”
Her hissed words are immediately followed by her grabbing a paperweight off of her desk and flinging it at him with great force. Peter’s eyes widen, but his danger sense was already pinging. He dodges the paperweight with ease… but of course, that’s not enough for Professor Frost. Shit! He’d thought she was just a psychic, but this?!
The diamond woman leaps over her desk at him, hands outstretched like claws as Peter dodges out of the way. She’s not as fast as he is, he immediately notes, but that doesn’t mean he’s willing to let her get ahold of him with those diamond hands, no sir! At the same time, Peter can’t help but think that her diamond form looks almost familiar to him, somehow. But he’s not really sure why, and now really isn’t the time to be thinking about it.
Back-flipping away from her, Peter begins looking for exits, only to continue to be hounded by the diamond-skinned psychic. Her flinty eyes are even more so now that they too have become diamonds, and her gorgeous body is… well, beautiful as ever, for all that it’s become a deadly weapon. In the end, with her dogging his every step, Peter only has one choice for escape routes. The walls and ceiling.
Leaping up, he’s able to cling to the wall and immediately begins skittering up it. Suddenly, he’s incredibly grateful for the massive nature of Emma Frost’s office, because with ceilings over fifteen feet high, he’s soon high enough up that Emma can’t reach him with those clawing fingers of hers. Not that he expects her to stop. Fully prepared for her to start throwing things again, Peter makes a beeline for the door.
“W-Wait!”
Which is why it’s so surprising when she DOES stop… when nothing comes his way, thrown or otherwise, Peter blinks and hesitates for a moment, looking back to see the blonde Professor has reverted to her human form, standing there in the middle of the room with an expression of pure surprise, awe… and something else, something familiar on her face. Lust.
Great. Peter, still cautious as all hell, drops down from the ceiling, but only after making sure the doors to Emma’s office were right behind him and there was more distance between him and her then him and them.
“I apologize, Mr. Parker. But I had to know.”
Eyes narrowed, still ready to bolt at a moment’s notice, Peter frowns.
“You had to know… by attacking me?”
Emma has the good grace to look at least somewhat sheepish for a moment, before her back straightens and she gains her imperious, haughty attitude back. Suddenly, the blonde turns and walks back to her desk, sitting back down behind it and looking at him seriously.
“Yes. Anyone can claim to be Spider-Man, Mr. Parker… especially while hiding behind a psychic defense so impressive that it allows you to obfuscate your true thoughts from two of the most powerful telepaths in the entire world.”
Wait, what? Something of Peter’s surprise must show on his face, because Emma shakes her head ruefully.
“I have been classified as an Omega Level Telepath. Suffice to say, I am no slouch, when it comes to psychic abilities. So, take me seriously when I say Jean Grey has more potential than even I do.”
Oh, wow. He’d known he was hanging out with a psychic, and he’d been okay with that… but to find out Jean was one of the most powerful psychics in the world? That was pretty crazy.
“As such, I hope you can imagine why I would need to ascertain your true identity, to protect my charges. Still, now that I know you are who you say you are, I extend my sincerest apologies.”
… Seriously? Peter cautiously edges forward again, back towards the Professor’s desk and away from the doors to her office. But he stops in the middle of the room, well-short of returning to his seat, because his incredulity gets the better of him.
“… That’s it? I pull off some fancy footwork, stick to the walls and ceiling… and you just believe me?”
A soft smile spreads across Emma’s face, and she chuckles.
“You don’t remember me, do you? I suppose it was a hectic day…”
Wait…
“I was there, during the battle against Thanos. I stood with you and the others in defense against our world. I saw you move. I saw you fight. I like to think I have a decent idea of what that looks like, and you perfectly replicated Spider-Man’s flexible maneuverability just now, as well as his tendency to seek the high ground.”
That’s right… now he knew why her Diamond Form was so familiar. He’d seen flashes of it in that final battle… as well as bits and pieces of Emma Frost herself. She’d, for some reason, alternated between her human form and her diamond form throughout the fighting. Peter wasn’t entirely sure why, until he spent a moment analyzing his fragmented memories of that incredibly hectic day and realized she only used her psychic abilities when she was in her flesh and blood body.
“… Right, I remember you. Still… does me being Spider-Man really make me above suspicion?”
A rueful smirk spreads across Emma’s face.
“For me? It does. Interestingly enough, your mind was not protected then as it was now. You were broadcasting quite loudly, in the final moments of the battle there. Hearing your thoughts clearly, hearing your willingness to sacrifice yourself not just for your mentor, but for all of us there in that moment fighting for Earth… it was… life-changing.”
Peter can’t help but blush hard at that. Emma’s voice was somewhat breathy by the end of her statement. Life-changing? He hadn’t… r-really? In his moment of weakness, Emma suddenly leans forward, while at the same time lifting a hand up and hooking a finger along the edge of her top suggestively.
“I am very, very sorry for my… outburst, Peter. But I had to know for sure. And now that I do… I’m willing to do ANYTHING to make it up to you.”
… This was seriously happening, wasn’t it? Holy fuck he was getting propositioned by Jean’s Professor because he was Spider-Man. The lust coming off of Emma Frost was so palpable he could smell her arousal from where he was standing. The only question left was… would he give in to his desires, as had become his standard modus operandi, or was this all just a little too much for him?
Staring at Emma as she gives him some seriously smoldering bedroom eyes, Peter… really isn’t sure.

Also, kinda hoping that Cerebra/Friday mention is gonna lead to some cybersex or them coming up with a way to be with Peter some other way(maybe tricking him into testing a Iron Spider suit that's really a way for them to meet him in the cyberverse while still letting them manipulate the armor to pleasure Peter IRL as well?). In the comics, at one point the Danger Room/Cerebra built itself a physical avatar body to interact with the X-Men which they called Danger as its codename https://static2.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Wolverine-20-Danger.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&h=1137&dpr=1.5 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/marveldatabase/images/5/57/Danger_%28Earth-616%29_from_X-Men_Blue_Vol_1_17_001.png/revision/latest?cb=20190422035231
