OUR LIBERATION IS AT HAND! SHE IS FREE!!!

Cambrian

Dun worry, I have PLANS!

Cambrian

Heh, I'm glad to hear that I'm writing them well enough that everyone with a face and a name comes across like a real person worth sympathizing/empathizing with xD

Cambrian

The banquet was still going on, so the nobles hadn't had a chance to make their way to the Cathedral yet. Glad you're enjoying the story, means a lot to me

Cambrian

Glad you enjoyed it!

Cambrian

lmao appreciate the enthusiasm

KOS 1100

YES SHE'S FREE HAHAHAHAHA FUCK THAT NOBLES

RanmaChaos

Thanks for another great chapter!

V01D

She’s not going to go after him? I wonder if Seraphina knows the relation her prisoner had with Markus’s mother?

Brandon Thomas Martinez

Personally, kinda wished Marcus had let out the ‘Evil’ side out and murdered the nobles while having Erised lock everyone in so no once could escape, but saving Roka-Ra is good enough lol. Loving this story though

SpectralTime

Was about to say, it felt like a stretch to me.

Drakeulous

Are you confirming that serafina not only knew what this instance of "divine justice" entailed but also accepted it even when she had the power to cancel it or just change the punishment in the first place. If so she has just lost all likeability.

SpectralTime

Honestly, I didn’t expect that! I figured he would have a scene rather like this one next chapter, just shorter and punchier because he’s less of a talker. Then again, I guess him being less of a talker is probably why he didn’t even try…

SpectralTime

I liked it a lot. I liked that you went out of your way to humanize both characters, and to let them both voice their points of view, no matter how tragically flawed. And I liked the Princess’s ultimate resolve to do what’s right rather than what’s expedient. That I agreed with her that she should’ve gone with him is only a small part of that. I also appreciate the implication that Serafina is not necessarily the architect of what was going to happen, just unwilling to stick her neck out and stop it. It’s still wrong, but it’s wrong in a less irredeemable way, and ties into the idea of learning the wrong lesson from what happened. I guess I feel for just about everyone involved with a face and a name, and I hope whatever happens happens for the best.

Drake

Go Marcus! Kind upset that Esenthia is getting left behind but intrigued about where this will take her.

Cambrian

Well when you put it that way... lmao

TheSinful

"We have cities. That proves we're morally superior when we rape our enemies to death."

Kaijucifer

Ahhhh the shifting pov stuff is aggravating! I just wanna see what happens LOL good chapter though, good to see Marcus put a stop to Elsenthia having to sacrifice everything for the greater good, this is the kinda stuff that would cause a civil war, morality vs politics. I just hope we finally start exploring the dark lord aspect of Marcus soon, the hero stuff needs a small rest, imo. Time to let his darkness bleed through when confronted by the darkness of the world he lives in once more

Sootythunder

I can’t help but feel if this went down a true dark lord route/story that the princess would have left with him, being completely disillusioned with the church and her mother. I could see her being basically a yandere by the end of that story not against marcus spending time with other girls but anyone who would disrupt him and harm anyone he cares about happily being part of a harem

Cambrian

Serafina should be Chapter 37's POV, dun worry!

Jack Reaver

Hell, he might not have much backlash now if he was a full human.

Cambrian

Undoubtedly~

Sootythunder

The person who I am actually most interested to hear the reaction from is Serafina

Cambrian

Why not both? Perhaps Serafina sees orcs as animals because of her lingering jealousy towards Gral-Ra :V

Cambrian

Potentially, though tbf, Elsenthia is still very much in the mindset of "Lisanna and Aunt Serafina are my dearest and closest allies" so betraying them and orchestrating a coup would NOT come naturally to her. To say nothing of her chances of actually convincing the Palace Guard to betray her mother's orders, or of their chances of defeating the Paladins guarding the Cathedral.

Jack Reaver

True. Unfortunately, his heritage will probably be blamed for his actions.

Cambrian

Elsenthia is also disappointed she didn't go with Marcus. Very, VERY disappointed :P

Cambrian

Can't say for sure, the only thing that the Church seems to believe is that the Dark Lord shows up before the Destined Hero. That's why they assume that Marcus being identified as the Hero means the Dark Lord is somewhere else out there already

Cambrian

Glad you enjoyed it!

Cambrian

If Marcus had gone to Serafina and demanded the 'Divine Justice' not happen, she would have caved instantly. It would have had some serious political ramifications, but she can't say no to him. Unfortunately, he doesn't really understand the power he has over the Holy Pope.

Cambrian

I can confirm that the rescue happens from Roka-Ra's perspective next chapter, though yeah its only a little action heh.

Bellerophon

I am quite pleased with this chapter, we’ve dipped our toe into the ‘hero’ aspect of his powers and now i imagine we will see a deeper exploration of his dark lord power. Rok-Ra will be a fount of useful information on his abilities seeing as she spent so much time around his mother. Also, my respect for the Holy Pope dropped massively, this PoV suggests that she was not only aware of the method of the so-called ‘Divine Justice’ but also greenlit it because of something as shallow as funds. Also, surprised the Princess didn't call her mother out on calling orc animals seeing as Marcus is half-orc. Does Seraphina see orc’s the same way, is that why she was fine with Rok-Ra being raped to death, because she see’s her as subhuman? Or was it petty jealousy lingering from Marcus’ mother, seeing a orcish female dark general reminding her of the loss of the man she loved making her willing to turn a blind eye? I would be very interested to see a bit more behind the scenes in the Pope’s mind.

Eltic3

The princess messed up here. She should have immediately rallied the palace guard without talking to her mother and gone after Marcus. If she played her cards right, she could have orchestrated a coup that took out the church, and the nobility in one fell swoop.

Sootythunder

On 1 hand I kind of am disappointed the princess did not go with Marcus, on the other hand it would have been REALLY bad for Marcus if she did. I mean I get the feeling that to save face if the princess left with him the Queen would be forced to say she was kidnapped in order to garner any cohesion between the crown and nobility. Not only that but I don’t think she would have lasted long going to an orc camp to return the general. I get the feeling she would have to ride Marcus every night to keep herself from throwing herself at the nearest orc after a while

Joshua Kei

Either we see it from Marcus'/Rokara's perspective next chapter, or Cambrian isn't confident writing that sort of action, which is fine btw

Lord of Chromius

Guess it's time to become the Dark Lord. Also, what is the time frame from when the Dark Lord job appears and then the Hero job pops in?

Joshua Kei

Excellent 😍🤩

Jack Reaver

Great chapter! I hope they didn't actually get to her by the time that marcus got to her. Either way, I figured that he would be able to do pretty much whatever he wanted as he was "above the church", but I guess this could be the start of him being more dark lord and less hero

Smile Dip

Not an unexpected outcome...but interesting it happened out of the narrative's direct eye
