Love that the War of the Ancients trilogy novels for WoW is canon! Was the only WoW novels that I actually enjoyed reading. Props to Broxigar, the Red Axe, as a most badass Orc given that he is one of the only know mortals to have ever wounded Sargeras!

KnightofMor

Lore has him as one of the veteran survivors of the coming Third War. Later sent to investigate an anomaly in the Stonetalon Mountains that sends him back in time. So he is either with Thrall, helping the Tauren, or with other Horde forces that aren't in Ashenvale.

Void Walker

hm. i meant to comment earlier but i had to crash. AMAZING work! i can't seem to get enough of your stories and seeing one without any smut this far in is, interesting... but nice all the same. The way they interact with each other and how the new druid chief tries to handle his post is very well done!. my only gripe would be not understanding what they said as i was looking forward to the talk between the two. will we see a flashback of that conversation? anyways i can't wait for more and i hope you have a good one...!

Cambrian

Lol yep, and that is coming soon(tm)

Thunder

Plus, if nothing else, it would DEFINITELY come when Thrall returns and goes "who are you, and where is Grom?"

Cambrian

Heh, in the end it was as easy as adding 5 more words to this chapter and then another short mention in a later chapter

Cambrian

That's a theory, and I do agree that most of the orcs should definitely be able to speak (or at least understand) Common, but I don't necessarily subscribe to the idea that the Night Elves would speak/understand common, especially when there have been no humans on Kalimdor in 10,000 years and no Night Elves on EK in the same amount of time. In this case, the orcs are speaking Orcish anyways right now, because this is the Warsong Clan, who were never put in camps by the humans in the first place. So most of the Warsong Clan actually doesn't know Common at this point, unless they came from when Grom and Thrall freed them from the Internment Camps before leaving for Kalimdor. But yeah, languages won't be a large part of this fic tbh, I'll just be making sure it makes sense in my head when they should come into play and when not, and usually just handwave it away with magical translation spells, which is how eventually Shandris and her Sentinels are going to speak to Rognak and his orcs (via Cenarius' help because OP Demigod dood)

Vacivus

My understanding of WC3 was that the orcs could understand and speak the human language because they had all just come out of being slaves for years, and the elves understood the human language because they were all literally older than the language itself and most had picked it up at some point. Or at least that was how I rationalized it internally.

Cambrian

Hm, ya know what, good point. I don't usually do edits, but that's worth fixing now lol

Thunder

The only thing that kinda bothers me, is that it appears that Rognak and the Warsong just left, and apparently left Grom's body just lying there out in the open. I'd had the impression that, for all his... confused psyche, and their disagreements over the path to take, Rognak still had at least some personal respect for Grom. Certainly a lot of the older warriors would have, and would have objected to Grom not being given the funeral rites that a Chieftan (and in Grom's case, had quite earned) deserved. I don't it's the intention he just get forgotten about. Maybe it'll be addressed later, but yeah. That stuck out to me.

Garm88

I mean, that makes sense. She's been monogamous for ten thousand years.

Cambrian

Funnily enough, Shandris is the first sex scene, while Tyrande is going to take a while longer... a LOT longer lol.

Cambrian

Yus, the quest will be seen next chapter for sure!

Darendarus

So. Not a lot to comment on but I'm eager to learn the quest he was sent on! Looking forward to the next chapter!

Cambrian

I don't think he's been sent into the past yet, so yes, the second one where he just stays conveniently far enough away xD

Cambrian

Yeah its funny, because in WoW there is a language barrier, but in Warcraft 3 (the time period this story is set in) every single race just shouts at each other without any sort of issue lmfao) But it would have hurt my immersion way too much too to do that

Darkanlan

Chromie's probably making sure he doesn't learn of it. Seems like the type of work that gets tossed at her.

Pipeman

Broxigar's legacy not getting overshadowed by the immediate conflict (and his plotline actually existing when this is written) is a weirdly interesting one. Has he even been sent to the past yet? If not, is he just gonna stay conveniently too far away from these events to get hear about his own legend until he's gone?

SSs34TheElf

True, I’d read this series even without the smut lmao. Just glad to see a well developed warcraft story. But at the same time, my degenerate mind can’t wait for Shandris and Tyrande action with Orcs lol.

TheSinful

I'm rather glad there was a language barrier to begin with. I know it'd be frustrating in-game but it still destroys my immersion when I step onto a continent that has never seen a member of my kind before and somehow everyone speaks my language anyway.

Cambrian

Yeah, been reading several Warcraft Inserts in the past few months that 100% inspired this story! Listed them here in case you didn't see~ https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-free-write-81200919

Garm88

There's been a ton of WC fics coming out lately and I'm 100% supportive of it. This is great, I'd read it even without the hanky Panky.

Cambrian

Glad to hear it~

Thomas Brusilovsky

Very good stuff as always!
