In a world with a radical hokage blessed with a modicum of common sense, I can see the Uchiha massacre presenting an opportunity for reform, as giving certain privileged members of a clan the ability to mass murder their family with a few hand seals is recognized as a major security risk. Honestly, any shinobi with a physiological kekkei genkai should probably have the organ-destruction-at-death component of the cursed seal applied to them, but the torture element should be banned. That said, might be nice for there to still be some thorny intra-village issues for Naruto to cut his teeth on, and Hyuuga-clan reform could be a fun one if you want to spend the time on it

Kushina fixed the Hyūga clan's issue with a seal to remove/replace the Caged Bird Seal that every member of the clan uses... and a Jōnin alternate universe version of Hinata - who is older in this story I suppose(?) - pulled an Itachi and cleaned out the other elders after they posed a threat to the village... and to her adorable "siblings", having spent time with a younter Naruto. Whether she is with Akatsuki as a double agent or took up the mantle of Clan Head (perhaps she has the Tenseigan, if you even want to use that bloodline technique) is up to you...

While it's true that Hokage has a duty to stay out of clan affairs, this whole relationship with Hanabi allows Kushina to get involved, because it involves her child now. It's also a good reason why she did nothing before this, but this opening is exactly what she needs here. At least she can easily argue it. Also on the topic of bloodlines - it may apply to pretty much all clans with bloodlines. But in the case of non-eye ones, a seal may automatically destroy a body at the moment of death. Also, it sounds like an interesting trip arc where Naruto searches for some bloodline users. Survivors of the Bloody Mist affair, Ketsuryugan from anime, etc.

The Hokage has a duty to stay out of Clan Affairs - on the other hand, the head of the clan could easily have requested something from her. (The seal could even be adopted by the Uchiha- especially since people would know about ‘the Sharingan user claiming to be Madara. And Danzo, if he did have the Izanagi arm, would drill home not wanting eyes to be stolen)

Akuma-Heika

Considering that would take away the main branches leash just so it's more moral (compared to a seal that only seals the eyes, which has a logical benefit for the main family, and thus complaints against it only sound childish, since they would be counter the official reason for its existence), I doubt the main branch would go for a less slavish form of the existing seal

Part of me hopes that their mom is still alive in this AU. Obviously, it would be yet another target. In anime, she shows up, and we know how she looks, but she isn't named for some reason. There is also some pretty good rule34 with her as well ;). I think they would be offended, in a way that they are pretty prideful, although their father in the original timeline has a soft side, and isn't an asshole. Still standoffish, but it's kind of a given with a clan full of noble pricks, even if to keep up appearance. But knowing what happened to Uchiha, and them not being stupid, I think this compromise (second option) would be what they would agree with in the end. I suspect Kushina would argue that Chuunin's rank is enough, and negotiation breaks out on Jonin, knowing it would make for some people to escape. Politics work like that - hardly anyone, ever, is truly satisfied with the compromise. Later on, if Kushina sees that it doesn't work as much, may try a more sneaky approach. But for now, it should work.

Hm, could be a combination of both things. Kushina makes a Seal and gives Hyuga Clan an ultimatum: Either everyone wears her new seal that just destroys their eyes on death... or everyone carries a temporary version of the new seal that is then removed if they manage to prove themselves to be Jonin Rank and thus capable of protecting themselves. I wonder what the Hyuga Clan would choose given such an ultimatum. I imagine most of the elders aren't really Jonin Rank tbh, so they'd probably go for the first option because they're petty like that. Then again, Hanabi and Hinata's dad might override them as Clan Head and go for Option 2 and the Temporary Seal...

Kejmur

I also suggested the idea that the Branch seal is only temporary in this AU till members are capable of defending themselves. Like Chuunin+. If we want to avoid drama this time around.

Cambrian

Yeah this is actually a great idea, and also plays into the Uzumaki Clan's background in Sealing quite well. Might use this! Just have to remember to do so! :V

Kejmur

Or this. Simply modifying a seal that is less... slave-like in its application.

FreqNiko

A Simple way would be that Kushina made a seal that destroys the eyes upon death and nothing else, and both the branch and main clan now use it.

Kejmur

Well, in the previous version of the story it ended up in a pretty... drastic fashion. So maybe this time it would be nice to not get a repeat. But I think in this specific case, if Naruto and Kushina, in secret, somewhat use their FuinJutsu expertise to remove the seals quietly, it would be one hell of a shocker. It may still end up somewhat badly (as sudden freedom may embolden branch members to lash out anyway), but trying to do it slowly may simply take too much time. Also, most Hyuuga characters we see in canon, in both manga and anime (Natsu from anime is hot for example, in anime she babysitted Hanabi, with her short green hair and heavy maid vibes) are from branch house, so honestly I don't feel bad from screwing others up. But again, this is pretty heavy AU. We may need to investigate how the clan works, and now with the Hanabi relationship being pretty much a thing, both Naruto and Kushina (as his mother) will need to get involved anyway. Heck, maybe this is one of those very rare situations where Branch Hyuuga branch doesn't exist. It sure would be convenient, but I doubt it would be this easy. Or the seal here, in this specific case, is nowhere near as drastic of an option like may be temporary only to remove the risk of young ones being kidnapped for their eyes, and that is removed once they reach at least Chuunin Rank. Although, especially with the winning option, some noble-like scandal may happen anyway. Those kinds of marriage deals, especially in old Japanese culture, was a pretty complicated negotiation mess before it happened. If we follow those here of course. Also with this Hanabi most likely secures the status of the main wife, with all that implies, and polygamy back than was kind of complicated as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEXcaMJbaYg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3j-cTfLeww&t=2s Just great videos on the subject if you are interested.

Second that. Also curious how this and Kushina’s will affect/have effected Hinata (What no I don’t have a clear character bias what are you talking about xD)

Keeper

Hmm, cleaning up the Main/Branch division might be hard. Depends on how the Kumo affair went when Hinata was almost kidnapped here.
