Great chapter. But really Rognak, you don't wanna release the man known as the Betrayer.. also I am complaining about the RR A/N's....................................nah just kidding.

Cambrian

It won't be happening, Cenarius would have already said if it was possible. Malfurion is effectively dying slowly, though it's a relatively painless way to go. Unmoored from the real world but without the stuff that lets him remain in the Dream as his own entity indefinitely, he will ultimately end up dispersing into the Dream at some point. Though he'll always be fighting the good fight at least

Mastersgtjames

Honestly, I am expectantly waiting for SOMEONE to suggest getting Malfurion a new Body somehow for him to be Anchored to. I mean, he is not dead(in the Dream), He has simply lost his Anchor and physical body.

Cambrian

Night Elves are 100% built different, yeah. Tyrande and Malfurion apparently have the strongest long-distance relationship of all time. Meanwhile, Illidan doesn't get a SINGLE visit from Tyrande for 10000 years and still carries a massive fucking torch for her. Hell, even Malfurion is said to have visited Illidan a few times in those ten thousand years to try and make him repent his actions. Tyrande tho? Not once lmao.

LordMarksman

3000 years is a bit.... no honestly it is really bad. I know they are immortal and all but this makes me think Tyrande really deserves better. 3000 years of not being able to embrace your significant other, talk to them, or have sex sounds damn awful. I know now how important the Emerald Dream is but certainly these druids could arrange like some sort of scheduling shifts or something. I am legit surprised Tyrande still loves him despite such a gap and didn't cheat on him. Maybe Night Elves are just built differently, Illdrian despite being locked up for 10,000 years never stopped loving Tyrande after all.

Cqys

I think it's less shit talking and more just the reality of the matter. From other sources I recall reading (it's been a decade+ at this point don't quote me) Malfurion spent the most time in the Dream. He had to. The Nightmare was a festering wound that had to constantly be addressed and so he spent a lot of time there. First druid life and all that.

Cambrian

You'll have to tell me what you think when it all comes out lol

Cambrian

Ahh I forgot that bit lol, yeeeeeah

TheSinful

One thing that is known is he spent at least 3k years straight in the Emerald Dream. His first line to Tyrande is that it'd been 3000 years since he'd last seen her

Cqys

As long as it makes sense. If he gets shit on because he did some really shit things then by all means lol.

Cambrian

The truth as far as I know it is, people like to talk shit about Malfurion, but we don't actually know for an absolute fact how much of the past ten thousand years he spent in the Dream and how much he spent at Tyrande's side. Everything shitty one could say about him is based almost entirely on conjecture imo

Cambrian

Happy to hear it!

Cambrian

pfffft

Cambrian

Honestly I sort of forgot Fandral existed lmao

Cambrian

lmao

Cambrian

Well... I don't want to spoil anything, but uh... don't get your hopes up too much :x

Stostri

Malfurion is pivotal in Wacraft 3, in which he is easily one of the heaviest hitters around on the side of good and present for a few important interactions with others. That's more than balanced out by having Cenarius present however, who is a league above him in sheer power. Other than that most of the work he does is with the other druids (and the Green Dragonflight) in the Emerald Dream, wherein Malfurion has been a pillar of support, guidance, and might for tens of thousands of years. The entire concept of the Emerald Dream took a backseat in the storyline for entirely too long, and the Blizz devs have admitted this was something of a mistake. They kept wanting to get the players into it as far back as Vanilla, even just the druid PCs, but it just never happened until the Emerald Nightmare zone in Legion. By then it just wasn't really as impactful as it could've been much earlier on. Why it's important is that the Dream is kind of the underlying blueprint of Azeroth. If you change things in the Dream, you can affect Azeroth in the waking world. And it's constantly under assault from the Old Gods as a result. Excising the influence of the Old Gods wherever they can and returning things to how they should be is of immense importance to the ongoing stability of the world. The consequences of losing the Dream to the Void would be apocalyptic in scale, fundamentally altering the base concept of what Life is and does, for everyone on the planet.

So... I've been trying to read up on WoW a bit in particular about Malfurian and... does killing him actually hurt things that much? Besides Tyrande being emotionally distraught, I mean Malfurian seems to be pretty egotistical in his own right and prone not to do anything unless really really REALLY forced to do so. A lot of people online also seem to hate him favoring Illdrian a lot more. Of course part of it seems to be due to fact Malfurian is super boring and "I am always right and you are wrong!" attitude. Anyway both Tyrande and Malfurian have plenty of problems themselves. Honestly, the more I read the more I feel like Illdrian (despite his many faults) deserved better. Also Malfurian kind of seems like a really bad husband in general from what I read. In that he is super neglectful of Tyrande despite "how much" he "loves" her. I would like some clarification from any guys who know WoW better than me please?

Arkay

Getting pretty interesting now!

Stostri

Rognak: "Is that?...why do I hear the DOOM Eternal soundtrack?" Illidan: "RIP AND TEAR"

Cqys

Fandral being a raging asshole? Color me shocked. Looking forward to Illidan though. I always felt he got a bit of a raw deal in the Canon story. With so much different I'm interested in seeing where this goes.

TheSinful

Of course not. Nobody likes Fandral. You can't call him an asshole without insulting anuses everywhere

TheSinful

It's a case of "We can work together long enough to kill that guy. We can worry about after, after."

Darkanlan

I always hated the saying, "an enemy's enemy is a friend." You're just begging to get stabbed in the back if you ever follow that stupid philosophy. You may both want to see someone dead, but that definitely doesn't make you friends. It makes you an usable pawn for the other person to get their shot in at the enemy.

CJ Cook

"Wake up Illidan, your brothers dead and therez zombies and demons to slay." Hell of intro after 10K years of sitting in a hole.

Dracontorrin

Wait - you did not want to show the Asshat himself the one that basically is one of the hidden butt (pun intended) guys for the most of the story? But still interesting that you decided to show his mug already, still having a hype (partially due to beeing on holidays for the last two weeks) regarding this story. Have only one major issue with that story - chapters are too short :D
