Cessily Kincaid, otherwise known as her alias ‘Mercury’, had not been having a very good week. Though to be fair, she hadn’t really been having a very good few years. Ever since her mutation manifested itself, Cessily had been living something of a half-life. Were there moments of joy here and there, glimpses of light in the darkness? Sure, but they were few and far in between, and they only made the rest of it harder on her.
She put on a brave face of course. When she first ‘manifested her powers’ (aka becoming a massive blob of literal mercury right in front of her horrified father), Cessily’s parents hadn’t been… as bad as some of her peers at the Xavier Institute had said theirs were. They hadn’t disowned her or claimed she was no longer their daughter.
But they also hadn’t known what to do with her. Her mother and father, the people who brought her into this world, hadn’t known how to deal with her mutation. Well, newsflash, Cessily hadn’t known either. And her parents were supposed to be the ones to help when something happened that she didn’t understand, right?
… She didn’t really hate them, in the end. It was a low, simmering bitterness that Cessily felt whenever she thought of them, not hatred.
Even after being shipped off to the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, things hadn’t exactly been great. They’d gotten better sure, but even among mutants, Cessily was… different. Your average human was still biological, after all. Only a handful were as altered as she was by their powers, but even someone like Colossus could just transform back whenever he wanted.
She didn’t get that luxury. She didn’t get to experience any of the normal, biological things that people got to experience, things that she’d had access to all her life. So yeah, it sucked. Cessily wasn’t suicidal or anything, so she soldiered on anyways, but that didn’t change that her situation well and truly sucked.
… And then these fuckers from ‘The Facility’ had kidnapped her. Cessily had been feeling particularly sorry for herself and decided to go out for a walk. Just when she’d come to the conclusion that doing so had done fuck all for her mental state, an electric bullet had hit her and taken her down. The last thing she’d heard before falling unconscious was that bitch Kimura saying ‘well, that was easy’.
After that had been the Tube. And the taking of ‘samples’. They’d literally took pieces of her for their damn experiments. And while Cessily was very, very durable, she didn’t fucking regenerate like someone like Laura. She wasn’t ever getting those pieces back.
Still, things were finally looking up, at least a bit. She’d been rescued, so that was nice. They’d escaped the illegal underground laboratory before the self-destruct went off… so that was also nice. And it was good seeing Laura again. The no-nonsense mutant might not have it quite as rough as Cessily when it came to mutations, but she more than made up for that with her tragic backstory.
She definitely had Cessily beat in ‘the terrible things that had happened to her’ category. And, well, misery loved company, so they’d been pretty friendly with one another until Laura had gone off with Kitty on a mission of some sorts.
Cessily didn’t know the details, but Kitty was nowhere to be found and there was a big, masked man following Laura around instead. A big, masked man who was strong enough to shatter that damnable tube with literal brute force, when Cessily’s best and sharpest projections hadn’t been able to so much as scratch the inside.
And Laura was faster… way faster. Killing Kimura like that? Cessily knew Laura. She knew the other woman wouldn’t hesitate to kill someone like Kimura, and frankly Cessily wouldn’t blame her. She didn’t have the same qualms about that sort of stuff that others at the Institute would.
However, the speed it took to catch someone like Kimura off guard, to impale her brain through the roof of her mouth before she could react… that was something else.
Laura was faster and stronger than she’d been when Cessily last saw her. And now she was offering Cessily a chance at something… similar? No, she’d said she could maybe learn to control it. Control her form? Like Colossus did?
Cessily doesn’t need to breathe anymore. So one might take the ripple that goes through her form as a sort of shuddering breath as she fortifies herself and really looks at Laura. After peering at the closest thing she has to a friend for a moment, the all-mercury woman slowly nods.
“I’m interested. Fuck, Laura. Of course I’m interested.”
Laura doesn’t smile or anything like that. She doesn’t look like she has Cessily right where she wants her, or like this is all according to some master plan. In fact, the other mutant even hesitates for a moment before slowly nodding back.
“Alright… but not here. We need… somewhere to go?”
She directs that last part towards tall, dark, and strong, turning it into a question. The masked man Laura has brought with her tilts his head to the side before nodding as well.
“Let’s get out of the sewers, and then I’ll make a call.”
Cessily wonders at what that means, that he’s apparently calling the shots. But in the end, she doesn’t question it. Not yet anyways. For the time being, she follows Laura and her mysterious companion out of the sewers and away from the destroyed laboratory.

“… You know Thaddeus, when I recommended for you to seek out the esoteric, I wasn’t expecting you to be quite this… proactive. But yes, I understand. Do what must be done and I’ll make sure the appropriate excuses are made with the University. I’ll still be expecting that debrief at some point though, of course.”
Cessily watches as Laura’s mystery man, now revealed in all of his admittedly handsome glory, chuckles at the words from the woman on the other end of the phone.
“Of course. See you then.”
As he hangs up, he turns to the two of them, slowly nodding.
“Alright… I’m down to try this thing. Not quite sure where to start though.”
Thaddeus wasn’t just super strong, Cessily had noticed. He also had some other powers, because he’d shifted in both facial structure and body type since they’d come up out of the sewers. Now, standing here in this hotel room, he looked… well, he still looked incredibly well-built. But it did make Cessily wonder if it was his real form.
Also, if he didn’t know where to start, then they were really up shit’s creek without a paddle, weren’t they? Because she certainly didn’t know what the fuck was going on, even now.
“The mercury that makes up Cessily’s form isn’t toxic, Thad. So there’s no danger there.”
The big man blinks at that, looking at her in a new light.
“Ah. Well alright then…”
She’s not sure what the lack of toxicity in her form has to do with anything… though suddenly, she has a sinking feeling in her gut. Laura and Thaddeus exchange a glance, with Thaddeus nodding to Laura after a long moment. This in turn prompts the young woman to turn and look at Cessily directly.
“Thad’s mutation is that he gets stronger from having sex. When he has sex with women who have powers, he also gets copies of those powers. And most importantly of all for you, Cessily, he makes the powers of the women he has sex with stronger as well.”
And there it was. The ‘catch’. Cessily had known there would be one. To her credit, even back in the sewers Laura hadn’t sugar coated it. Cessily had asked what control would cost her, and Laura hadn’t said ‘nothing’, she’d said ‘not much’. Still…
“We can’t say for sure that it will give you control, Ms. Kincaid. I was able to help out… someone else in a somewhat similar situation, with a mutation going haywire, but that had less to do with having sex with them and more to do with a mental block I assisted them in overcoming.”
She appreciates the honesty. She’d probably be more leery of the idea if he was boastful or a braggart, expressing ‘certainty’ that he would be able to ‘fix her’. At the same time… boy did Cessily want to be fixed. A permanent way of controlling her powers would be… everything. She’d be willing to give up a lot more than just her body for that sort of thing.
“Alright, let’s do this.”
Thaddeus blinks, as if surprised by her easy acceptance. Laura on the other hand, nods in that no-nonsense way of hers, and immediately begins stripping down. Cessily follows her lead on that, melding the ‘clothes’ she’d been approximating back into her mercury body and giving her feminine figure more… definition. … She might have also made her tits a little bit bigger, just because. But if either Laura or Thaddeus notice, they don’t comment. Either way, Cessily watches as Thaddeus strips down to his birthday suit also, clinically analyzing his cock and finding it to be quite large by her estimation.

“Call me Cessily, I got enough of that ‘Ms. Kincaid’ bullshit from those hacks who had me captive this past week. And if we’re going to do this, you might as well just address me by my first name. As for how…”
After a moment she just shrugs and walks over to the bed, climbing up and spreading her legs for him. Thaddeus follows a moment later, with Laura watching almost anticipatorily from the side. Cessily watches, interested, as Thaddeus takes his cock and pushes it against her makeshift slit for a moment, before sliding into her.

She’s not suddenly human or anything like that. Her body isn’t suddenly flesh and blood again, and try as she might, she can’t switch forms at the drop of a hat like Colossus could either. And yet… and yet, there’s definitely been a change. And for the first time since her mutation manifested itself, Cessily feels something in her chest. Something like… hope.
“Cessily? How are you feeling?”
Laura’s curious and concerned voice breaks through Cessily’s thoughts, causing her to look at the other woman.
“I… I’m not sure. I felt… something though. Definitely… something.”
Sweeping her gaze back to Thaddeus, Cessily impulsively reaches up, wrapping her limbs around his body… literally.
“Do that again.”
He looks a little amused by her demands, causing Cessily to feel a flash of embarrassment at how childish she’d probably sounded. But that embarrassment only lasts for a second before she glares at him, as if challenging him to deny her. Thaddeus just grins in response.
“Your wish is my command.”
His hands come to her chest now, Cessily constantly managing the consistency of her breasts as he fondles and plays with them. At the same time, his cock is still buried inside of her… and he quickly starts thrusting again, not even going soft in the interim. Cessily grunts. There’s definitely something happening. A/N: Separate from the vote this week, I'm curious to hear some feedback from you guys on how you think Thaddeus should change/improve Cessily's power. Should it be something as simple as her getting an off-switch? Should it be her remaining in her mercury form, but getting more sensation and feeling then she had before? Should it be something else entirely? Hit me up with your ideas and I might use one of them!

I’d love a fix that can help her regenerate her damage so that it isn’t permanent like she alluded to previously, give her sensation back, and make it possible to control her form to the point that she can approximate a body again. I like the Sandman idea given by a previous commenter.

I'd say an upgrade for Cessily is a full T-1000 shift. Shapechanging and color manipulation, more dense and durable, physical feeling of touch and pleasure. Downsides? Vulnerability to extreme temperature hot or cold or energy weapons or blasts. But can walk off kinetic attacks to a very high level.

Would be kinda funny to be able to call any pieces of her back that she may lose or are taken from here if not regen them. Seeing all the samples they took just up and leave their lab would be hilarious and deny them any advantag they got by capturing her

What about something like Sandman from Marvel? Having a normal human appearance but being able to control her body however she wants, With the ability to absorb other metals and maybe even electricity manipulation. All this after a good amount of interaction of course. Maybe have Thad walk around school and be a normal kid for a week, all while Mercury is stuffed down his pants milking him the entire time.

As many have said I don't think jumping straight to an on/off switch is a good idea. Starting with returning emotions and sensations is a good start with the peak of this first phase of "enhancements" being full emotions and human sensations(the sensation part she can turn off in a fight so she doesn't need to deal with pain). After that, the second phase would be the ideas others have offered of regen from absorbing mercury or other metals to being able to produce and control electricity. At some point far down the line Thad could get some magic or reality warping to give the on/off switch.

Absorption of metal. Less bio shift and more mimicry of human flesh colors through colored metals she's absorbed. Heightened emotions from her body and soul becoming more in sync.

An option would be finer control. Slipping into people or metals to poison/control people or incorporate other metals into her body as an amalgam. Or just hiding inside them as a passenger. Given mercury is a good conductor you could also probably incorporate electrical control or generation to give her sensation despite being inhuman. If you wanted to go basic, though, you can just increase the strength of her bonding capabilities. Hardening to cutting diamonds or increasing her push/pull strength to make her a suped-up Mr Fantastic. I'd say the best option would be increasing the range though, meaning she gains control of mercury within a certain distance. Multiple bodies, being able to scout with drops of mercury that share her senses. That sort of thing. Maybe a combination of all 3, depends on how much you want to add her power to Thad. More than just a ridiculous level of durability since he doesn't have vitals anymore.

I think a midle ground is the solution. Get her more sensations, probably "meat bag" streng and an off-switch for that. Going full Mercury for that.

Mix of shifting to a bio shape(though if she's attacked, her body still behaves like logia fruit users in one piece, and she just turns into metal particles again - That is to say, don't make it a weakness on its own), improved shape control, regeneration through absorbing metals(important, because she shouldn't have just general regeneration - That's a mutation all its own), and the ability to shift into other metals. Along with things like losening her hold on part of her body, thereby turning it into that basic normal material naturally(either to use to make things, or to create toxic subtstances, etc). All of these come out little by little. Maybe start with shifting patches into her bio-form, and regenerating from various metals. Maybe accidentally absorbing something metallic nearby to regenerate? PS. As an annotation, being drained(by rogue's power) after being empowered should allow her to sense how to control her power. Allowing her to shift into her bio form.

@Rotaugur mostly yes, but also no. She can shape herself as far as plastic man, and reattach lost pieces of herself. Even if they've infected someone else. But she doesn't have any awareness of them while detached, even if they're significant portions. She does get their memories once reattached, but not while they're still gone.

I'm team stay mercury, with greater sensation towards a humanlike level of sensation. I also would like to see it grow to a greater degree of control over mercury, self regeneration and more nuanced size/ form control. Maybe even something like Rimurus slime clones from the Reincarnated as a Slime series.

I think stay mercury, but more or full sensation and the ability to alter the look of her mercury to include colour and such, making it possible for her to pass for fully human while still retaining her full semi-liquid form, best of both words without having to try and possibly force a reason to arbitrarily give her an on/off switch that her mutation doesn’t seem want/have.

I think it depends on how much you Cessily to have sex with Thad. Once or twice, just heightened emotions. A few hours, regenerate the parts that go missing. An entire day of sex, able to switch on and off and/or make herself poisonus or non poisonus. Beyond a single day/repeat fuck buddy, gradually able to turn only parts of her body to mecury, eventually able to make projectile weapons she can control even seperated out of her body.

Something I don't understand and I don't know if it has been addressed in the comics is how Cessily can completely transform into some shapeless blobs which are 100% made of mercury but then when she goes back to humanoid shape she has red hair. Like, how come she can turn her hair back to how it originally was but not the rest of her body? To me that scream that she should be able to turn back to full human but is limited only to her hair because of some deep subconscious fear of messing up the process. Maybe she subconsciously fears she would turn everything back to human but forgets some important organ that would cause her death. Maybe she fears she will turn back human while she is some shapeless blob and fears the gory monstrosity of what she would turn into if that happens. However she can turn her hair back because it's hair, if it turns back wrong nothing bad happens. It's safe to mess around with hair so she is able to turn it back because her brain is not blocking her from doing so out of some unacknowledged fear. I think when her powers first activated it was also very traumatic for her because she became a shapeless blob and it was a while before she was able to turn back to something resembling a person. I think it would be very traumatic for me to go through something like that so maybe she is in the same boat as Rogue in that regard. So in my opinion it should go similar to what happened with Rogue. They keep fucking and her power becomes stronger but when that doesn't work for the intended goal, Thad tries the psychic route to determine the cause of her block and help her through it. As for how her power can be made stronger it would be that she can harden more, until maybe reaching adamantium levels of hardiness. Or maybe she becomes able to absorb and mimic other metals, like vibranium or uru.

I second this idea. It would be something similar to what Emma Frost has going on where she has her diamond form in which she loses her telepathy and touch sense in exchange for increased endurance, durability and light refraction properties which she has sometimes used. Maybe something similar could be applied here where she has her full mercury form where she has no touch sense in exchange for adaptability and a more normal form where she gets something else. Emma has to chose between using either a mind mutation or a body mutation, maybe follow that trend with Cessily where her mercury form is her body mutation and if she takes a human form she get a mind mutation. Though Emma's diamond form also serves to protect her from mind attacks because her brain is not the same when in that form, similarly I would guess Mercury has this same protection, but she in turn has a weakness to electricity so another possibility is that her human form could posses a power to address this weakness.

I think her body should stay in a mercury form but with her be able to feel physical and emotional sensations like a normal human, as well as regaining the ability to have children and other such biological functions( and maybe make it so breathing becomes optional as well as giving her the ability dial up and down here senses from having them muted, and up to the average normal humans senses)

Give her a dial between Mercury and human. Full Mercury is as she is now, full human is as she was before, and the more she moves the dial the more feeling she gets back, at the cost of transformability.

Now that I'm thinking about it if she can absorb other forms of mercury maybe she gains a kind of mass/density control affected by how much she has absorbed. So instead of the typical growth style of heroes she could be 50ft at normal volume condensed into the size of a person, but still with all that weight and force such mass would imply.

I would say that the sex should get Cesily the ability to control her form perfectly (including the ability to feel things like an organic human would) and get her the ability to mimic people's physical form and biological process/sensations while staying in Mercury form. For the switching ability, I would say that either: (1) Thaddeus fix it (now or in the future) by using psychic abilities (maybe with Emma's help this time) Or (2) He gets a new ability in the future which would help him fix Cessily's switch Or (3) Cessily's Mercury form powers keep growing to the point that she gets the ability to create a perfect facsimile of a human body and get a holographic projector (like in X-Men Evolution) to make her look human.

I really like the idea of regenerating by drinking mercury others have mentioned, but we all know there needs to be one other thing she can get the energy and material from to regen if she gets that power. Thad's special white "mercury". Could even go a bit of the typical slime route with it where the more she absorbs of that the more it affects her coloring until she fully assimilates it.

This is by far the best one. As it gives her her Human life back without an on off switch, and basically makes her something similar to a transformer or Klyntar. The only thing I would add is with her new body allow it to work like a normal human body in some ways. That way if she wants kids one day she can have them

Somewhat wrong their. They have an On off switch. Since they become their Devil fruits Elemental power. It's why they can have kids and such since I'd they were just their element with fake skin and hair covering it. They couldn't have kids

no on/off switch. he can't always be the magic bullet. but should deff give her a lot more control over her form, being able to set mental "defaults" so she doesn't have to constantly concentrate to not be a puddle, better control over her coloring(maybe not being able to look 100% normal, but normal enough), and being able to feel sensations.

If you ever watched the Anime Overlord. Ainz (a skeleton) describes that he can still feel physical things but it’s like he’s got a thick cloth between his hand and what he touches. Maybe Cessily could get something similar that just gets more and more better the more they ‘do it’.

I'd say making her more like a logia devil fruit from one piece would fit. Best of both worlds. Give her human sensations, but any real damage take and it shows she is Mercury still under the skin.

Looking at Cessily's wiki page she's got hair, that she can shift into and from mercury. So either more power would let her shift from mercury to organics and vice versa. Or she's got a mental block.

Not an one-off switch. That feels like it would invalidate all the struggles she has gone through. Something more along the lines of making her mercury form more "alive" I think. More receptive to sensations, more responsive, more maliable, those sorts of things.

Maybe don't let her go full human (maybe I'm evil but I kinda like the idea of her being past a point of no return) but make her human in the ways that matter. Let her taste, smell, feel like she would while still in her more liquid form. I'm not sure if she needs to focus to stay "normal" but if that's a thing, make it a toggle. Oh, and maybe let her drink mercury to regen. Idk why, but I got an image in my head of her snapping off the bulb of an old thermometer and drinking it like a shot...

An off switch is always a good idea, so have that at the very least. On the topic of additions, control like Oblivoni_Miche said. But over time become "control" like a Logia devil fruit from OP. Able to passively turn her body into mercury and such. Maybe even a regeneration aspect since she seemed pretty bummed that parts of her were missing.

She should be able to switch. While getting more sensation sounds interesting, it also comes with the possibility of her feeling pain in her mercury form which wouldn't be good for combat. It would be better that for now she can switch between forms and with more "injections", gain the ability to switch parts of her body to mercury at a time and maybe eventually be able to feel and have sex in her mercury form at will.

From what I can tell, she already has absolute control over her body. She can do anything Mr. Fantastic or Elastic Man can do. She just can't feel the same sensations that organic 'meat people' feel. Hence sex not being enjoyable for her at first in this chapter.
