Oh sure, things were still in the early phases… but after finding out Peggy’s true nature along with her pregnancy, Sharon had ultimately latched onto Steve like a lifeline… but so far had proven smart enough not to come across as overly clingy or obsessive to the blond Super Soldier.
Whether she would actually succeed on seducing Rogers or not, especially with Bucky also in the farmhouse, was now up to her. Tony agrees, if his next words are any indication.
“That’s good to hear. Even if it doesn’t work out… JARVIS will keep an eye on the situation. We’ll reassign Sharon if it proves to be necessary.”

“And last but not least? What about Commander Maria Hill?”

Tony grunts contemplatively, quiet for a few seconds before nodding.
“That’s about what I thought.”
When he acts like he’s going to just leave it at that, Peggy lets her curiosity get the better of her and prods him for more information.
“If not Commander Hill, who do you have in mind for SHIELD Director, exactly?”
When he just gives her a big grin, Peggy feels a tendril of terror run through her.
“C-Certainly not me, I should hope! I am in no way qualified for that kind of position!”
Fortunately, Tony breaks after another moment and just laughs, shaking his head.
“No Peggy, not you. But I definitely had you going there for a second, didn’t I?”
He really did. It would have been almost like something out of a storybook, after all. With her becoming Director of the very organization that her alternate helped create decades ago. But Agent Peggy Carter and Captain Peggy Carter were two very different people. And truth be told, she had no desire to be trying to lead SHIELD through this mess, even if Tony would be right behind her with one hand on the wheel.
… Fuck, now she was thinking about him fucking her from behind while they were trying to steer something. AS he was already fucking her. She might have to take him up on that offer of a treatment after all. For the moment though…
“Then who’s getting the job?”
Tony tilts his head to the side for a moment before shrugging.
“There’s not many high-ranking members of SHIELD left, truth be told. Especially if we take Commander Hill out of the running. I do have one idea, but we’ll have to see if the rest of the World Security Council agrees or not… and whether he’ll even take the position once it’s offered.”

A/N: I know some people thought Maria Hill would make the most sense as Fury's successor, but it just didn't really work in my head. Maria has never shown herself to be a leader, she's always been a follower. Even in that shitty Secret Invasion show that I don't consider canon, Maria Hill continues to be a follower right up until they kill her off unceremoniously.
Besides, there's one man who Tony just HAS to make SHIELD's new Director. For the lulz if nothing else :P
