Eight Year Anniversary + Promotion!

Well everyone, here we are again. Another year, another anniversary post. For those who don't know, it was eight years ago today on February 22nd of 2017 that I launched my Patreon Page alongside my Commission Business.
By the time summer rolled around, I would be making enough money off of Patreon alone that it no longer made sense for me to continue working my part-time service industry job. The math just didn't work out. I was effectively losing money wiling away my hours collecting carts for the department store I worked for instead of just staying home and writing.
In July of 2017, I worked my last day at that department store and never looked back.
I won't deny all the credit. Part of what has made me as successful as I am has been my consistency and the ability to put my nose to the grindstone. I take pride in the fact that I've almost never missed an update. I've even had my humanity called into question and been labeled 'AI' because of the rate at which I churn out content.
But I'm not so egotistical to realize that the greater reason for my success is really all of you guys. Both on my Patreon and off of it, my readers are the reason I've been able to do the things I do for as long as I've been doing them. Without you guys to provide feedback, suggestions, praise, and yes, financial support, I would not have been able to do this for eight months let alone eight years.
As such, in recognition of the massive contribution all of my readers have had to my work, I'm going to be trying out Patreon's Promotion Feature for the first time here this month and next month. I have a habit of saying things like "Thanks to eight years, here's to eight more!" but I'm not stopping there this time around. Instead, let's take those first eight years and those next eight years and combine them for a 16% discount across the board on all of my Patreon Tiers!
Breaking it down real quick...
For any new Monthly Patrons, you need to put in the code 830B9 at checkout for 16% off your first month on my Patreon. After that first billing period, you will be charged the normal amount going forward if you stay pledged to my Patreon.
For any would be Annual Patrons, the discount was already at 10%. So rather than make the above code apply to annual patrons, I simply upped the already existing discount to 16% for anyone, no code necessary. I repeat, if you want to sign up for a whole year on my Patreon, the base discount will now be 16% with no code needed.
This promotion code will run from now until March 31st at 11:59 PM when its set to expire. So basically for the rest of February and all the way until the end of March. The Annual change has no expiration date, so if I forget about it, it might become the new normal, who knows.
EDITED Disclaimer: At this time, I do not fully understand how the promotion works for old Patrons, whether you're currently pledged to my Patreon or not. Unpledge to try it out at your own risk!

I dunno if I'll make an announcement, but I'm like 99% sure I'm just going to leave it at 16% for annual pledges going forward yeah. If I change it back at the end of March, THEN I would make an announcement letting people know I changed it back.

If you do that please make the announcement so I can cancel my current plan when it runs its course and then I can pledge again to make sure I take advantage of it.

Yeah, tbf I'm leaning heavily in the direction of just making the 16% discount permanent for Annual pledges specifically. So if I do go that route, you should receive the 16% discount the moment your pledge autorenews anyways I think? Though not sure on that front.

From past experience I would not risk canceling and then pledging again. What would happen is that I would lose whatever time is left from my current pledge which is more than half a year still so it's not a good deal for me. I was already charged the full yearly plan with the 10% discount, I would be charged again with the 16% and the new pledge would replace my current one. As far as Patreon would be concerned I would have 2 pledges running simultaneously, one which would end around November and another that would end February next year, but effectively speaking I would have the same benefits as if I had a single pledge that would end in February. It would be a different matter if Patreon added the remaining time of my current pledge and the time of the new pledge together which would result in the plan ending around November next year but as far as I know that would not be the case. I better not risk it.

The concern about resubscribing really would be only a concern for Annual members; so as long as you keep it for at least a year, so it applies when my annual subscription automatically renews, I don’t see any issue. (The only way to get it applied for more than 1 month is to involve refunding)

Congrats on 8 years of being self-employed. My only advice would be to live like everything could fall apart in 6 months, so no buying a Bugatti with that Patreon money :P

I bet they do yeah. Given how often the Patreon team decides to alter/change their entire website around, it doesn't surprise me that they have out of date information just everywhere lmao

Actually, this appears to be outdated information. I just had multiple patrons from years ago repledge to my Patreon using the Promo Code without issue heh. I've changed the disclaimer to make it clear I have no idea how any of it works xD

Unfortunately with those who have paid anything in the past they cannot take advantage of any promotions. Even if you say paid for 1 month a few years ago then you would not be able to take advantage of a promotion as you aren't a new Patron

Yeah unfortunately I don't know what happens if you cancel your Annual Pledge and then immediately start a new pledge. Not sure if that would immediately give you the new 16% Annual Discount automatically or if you would have to wait for your current Annual Pledge's time to run out before being allowed to take advantage of the new Annual Discount
