Would this V have Phantom Liberty knowledge? Or would he have "skipped" that content while rushing around trying to save himself. Personally, I think him not having gone through Phantom Liberty would be more interesting. Catch him off guard a bit.

Gamesempie

Cyberpunk was always a team game. 2077 did have a team only because "officially/lore wise" his whole team had just gotten killed and no wants to work with a lone survivor before they are sure it wasn't just luck and skill that left him as the last man standing but the game takes place over like a month so no one has the time to make that judgement. "Unofficial/over the table" the it was a single player game and the developers didn't think squad mechanics would work well out side of scripted quests. Which I agree with.

McGrundy

We'll have to agree to disagree. V is invisible on security cameras thanks to Alt, and is basically a god in combat like the player gets to be during the Johnny Silverhand flashback sections. No need to go anywhere fast when you can kill everyone when you get there.

Dylan Pullock

You kinda did. When panam notices that V knows how to handle her she talks about nomads (asks if V is one or was one or knows one, not entirely sure), V off hand says he is a street kid but has had dealings with nomads before. That was 2-4 chapters ago? I think?

BronRevo

V doesn't need to storm Arasaka tower anymore given that Johnny was replaced by Alt.

Kyo Amamoto

get everybody to help V storm Arasaka tower (maybe Reed and Alex as well if we're lucky)? why yes i'd like to see that very much please.

Cambrian

I don't think I ever clarified it exactly, but I've been writing him as Street Kid

JO LP

Something I for some reason did not think to ask before, but what lifepath is this V? Corpo, Streetkid or Nomad? Sorry for asking if it has been addressed before, but I don't remember.

JO LP

In the game being alone works because of how healing works under game mechanics. Being wounded is not a big deal if you can get some cover and heal it in seconds. "Oh damn I got shot point blank with a shotgun, better eat that burger I have stored in my back pocket" Yeah, that is just not going to fly here so it's more believable to get a team to rely on when shit hits the fan. Also who is going to be in the team? Panam as driver 8ug8ear as a netrunner (Alt being the main but only V communicates with her) Judith as a techie? Who else?

Dylan Pullock

But in phantom liberty you are literally working as part of a team (again part of that pseudo party rpg element to give you the illusion of having companions). You are literally running missions with Alex and Reed and then depending on choice you are teaming up with songbird later. I do reckon that PL could work just as well if V has his own team doing shit on the sly ( maybe even recruit Alex and songbird though songbird is a big maybe, no idea if you could believable salvage her situation though with a shard of alt maybe you can. Her whole shtick was getting an AI to help save her life and Alt is right there.) I can easily see V working with Reed and Myers as a way to distract them while having his team do things like taking advantage of the smokescreen provided by Reed and co to lift weapons from dogtown, skim funds from the sporting center, keep tabs on Myers, implicate certain members of the colonels upper circle in some misdeeds that prunes the bush so to speak, extract extra info that can be used or sold etc.

Dylan Pullock

Yeah I disagree. Give panam a nekomata (breakthrough or regular) or just let her keep the grad you get from her quest and she can snipe through walls. And you always need wheels in the city, especially with someone you know for a fact is a better wheelman than you behind the wheel.

Dylan Pullock

YES!!!!!!! TEAM!!!!!!! As much as I loved cp2077, playing Cyberpunk without a team felt wrong to a degree. It's why I loved edgerunners so much, it brought the crew aspect back. Only time you're part of a crew in 2077 is right in the beginning and then you do pseudo party missions with a few characters as companions for a short time. Edit: was hoping for this option but didn't think it would happen. NC really is the city of dreams :)

Garm88

Team up with Panam and Judy to make preem action BDs.

VincentVanNintendogh

Loved this chapter. Alt catching people off their game and showing just how capable she is at swiping the rug from under people is a treat to watch. For the choice, we gotta get Panam. We cannot abandon best girl!

MacZeuss

We've all gone through the solo route, it will be fun to see the Team Interactions and their personalities crashing on each decision V makes. Makes it more exciting and different than what all of us have experienced playing the game.

Arkhaan

Team, gotta be. Just leave plenty of scenes of him proving why he's the most Lethal solo since blackhand

RHar

Both options are extremely viable, but I really like the Team angle because V had already conquered NC as a solo act, why not try being with a team?

Mackmoud

Honestly want the team option. I love the game, but it kinda saddened me that we never see V pull together all their allies for the final fight. Gondor calling for aid is always sick as shit, no matter the setting.

Orion9137

Dang, looks like the team vote is winning. But it'll make for interesting interactions between characters, something really missing from the game. As for Yorinobu I'd love if V and him could come to a neutrality agreement of sorts. Having Yorinobu stay alive and actively dismantling Arasaka for years is a net positive to the world. V doesn't need to forgive him, but if they stay out of each other's way it's a net win. But good luck getting that tea-party negotiation arranged without bullets flying lol

Mariano Amar

The main issue with following the game's solo narrative is that it's a pretty shit narrative for a CP world. Specially if you have the freedom to write a better story. It is a single player game, and as such, it pushed a narrative that moved a greenhorn almost worthless merc all the way up to being more powerful, skilled, and lethal than a 99% custom modded cyborg with almost a century of experience, while also being almost as good at working the net as a true blood AI... And he got there in just 4 months. Can we talk of just how unreal and wild that is? You can't get good at a regular 9 to 5 job in that timeframe. Having some crew to run with is not a matter of you being good enough at doing things. It's about you surviving doing things, without fucking everything up. You can be the best merc and the best netrunner, and the best assassin, all at the same time. And then you meet 5 really good assassins at the same time and you're just dead. No matter how good your "stats" are, there are physical limits to your body, and hard/soft limits to your netrunning. In that respect, the very fact V here has Alt as an unfettered AI running around is the very point of why you need a team

Kazama

Personally, I think a team kind of is limiting to V, at least on a permanent basis. I'm all for him working with others, but working every gig with another person would require him to hold back or try and come up with explanations. And I'm not sure if he's going to want to explain that all too soon. That said, if the team thing will expand to contain V's harem(?) or numerous lovers I can't say it'd be bad xD

McGrundy

Phantom Liberty is definitely a solo expansion. And excluding a few missions like rescuing Saul from the Wraiths and raiding that Arasaka warehouse/kidnapping Hanako with Takemura, most of the main campaign missions are solo-oriented.

SaintMichael95

gotta go with the team. Recruit Panam, and other girls, maybe 8ug8ear.

McGrundy

I like the idea of a team, but V doesn't really need Panam's skillset right now. Panam is a sniper and a driver. Two rather niche skills, that are only really necessary for wide open spaces, prolonged assaults, and hasty getaways. V and Alt can basically take down anyone with cyberware without even blinking. A tank like Maine or Dorio from Edgerunners would be more useful atm.

BronRevo

Rescuing a figure head / noble is a favorite mission in my D&D group XD But, understandable. Main game had some stuff that would've worked well if V was in a team (dealing with the VooDoo Boys, the train heist before getting to Hellman, the one where Panam shoots down an AV with an RPG, etc.)

Kaijucifer

Panam baby! Join the V Team! As his legal wife and right hand woman!

Kinsman

You are correct and I am an idiot Panam is sniper in my mind but she is definitely more of a driver

Raiy

I still think that having Panam on V's side is the best course especially once V gets her back in the good graces of the Aldecaldos. However, the way V is now, I think he would still be best as a solo. I did mention before that V could be as infamous and badass as Aguilar is supposed to be, and he can only do that solo.

Cambrian

I think Phantom Liberty would be a solo venture even if V does assemble a team here

Cambrian

>.> Panam? lmao

Skitarii990

I'm crossing my Fingers that Sandra Dorset is part of the team. She's got spunk and is ballsy enough to try and take on Night Corp and even risk getting into MAXTACs crosshair all by herself. With the right people around her she could definitely let loose and do some serious damage.

Necrotyr

Team sounds like a nice twist

Loghead101

Honestly speaking. Every legend of Night City still had a team. Even Morgan Blackhand who could walk into a heavily guarded compound and walk out with his target having not shed a drop of blood still needed a team for his most high profile jobs like the Arasaka tower bombing. It would also make for more seamless story telling and character developments if we have a close nit group to bounce around with another. The only thing that stops me from wanting it is the beauty of the Don’t Fear the Reaper ending of taking down an entire corporate army and a modern day juggernaut by yourself. Man at deaths door with nothing to lose can perform a miracle. But V’s not dying and Johnny isn’t here. That just can’t happen in this story. So yeah I’m for the team. It would be a proper reason for his harem to actually stick together too. Maybe enough for Judy and Evelyn to stick around or at least not completely forgo NC.

Luck George

In the first option only a team or also love intrest ?

IEU097

A team of sexy ladies.

BronRevo

Been replaying Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. Honestly, having a team go through that feels off. V as a solo makes more sense. The most notable time that V teamed up with others was in storming Araska and we all know who had died in those instances. Only Solo V had no meaningful deaths. BUT. If team here is euphemism for harem, then by all means form that team! Would give Judy more reason to stay in Night City.

Kinsman

Also if where doing classic cyberpunk team construction who is the driver?

Erinnyes

I voted for a team, but only if it's an idea you're actually interested in exploring. It provides a lot of fun opportunities but also creates more than a few restrictions. So if you're excited for it, let's do it, but otherwise pass.

Kinsman

The element of a team like edgerunners I think is going to be great

Cole Deucalion

Either sounds fun. But I do like the idea of these characters bouncing off each other a bit more than they do in the game.
