🕑 Added 2024-11-27 23:34:43 +0000 UTCHey guys, Chapter 58 of Lightning Strikes Twice just got hidden by Patreon for supposedly violating their guidelines. Unfortunately, their new policy for these things is to not tell you exactly what you did wrong or what part of the post violates said guidelines.
I've made some edits and sent it in for review to see if they'll reconsider or maybe it just turns out to be a false positive, but they say it'll take them 2-3 business days to get back to me and with Thanksgiving tomorrow that might mean I don't get a response until next Monday.
In the event that they do reinstate the chapter, I want to give everyone a chance to vote since the vote wasn't tied to the chapter content itself. So that's what this post is for.
If they do not reinstate the chapter because of deeper issues than the edits I made or because it wasn't a false positive, I will have to consider other options for Lightning Strikes Twice going forward. For now, if you haven't already voted, vote below and I will combine the votes from this post and the chapter post.

I haven't read it yet but the very first few sentences. I know you've been doing Delacour stuff, was there mention of mother and daughter in the chapter? Specifically where one mentions the other or in the proximity of the other while sexual stuff I happening? I think the AI auto flags stuff like that as incest even if no actual incest is happening. I have a writing alt where something similar happened. If you're brave, you can experiment with chapters to see if my theory is right. I didn't want to poke the bear so I just ended up saving the doc as a PDF and then uploading that.

Yeah I'm trying to figure out what exactly they think you violated tbh. It's like whoever tf reported it just made some shit up and either the A.I or the person who reviews this stuff didn't actually read the chapter and just instabanned it. I'd try reporting and fighting the ticket and see if they can ban the person who reported you for false reporting and waiting everyone's time

Yep, lots of organizations are using AI to censor content nowadays. Or worse, keyword blacklists. I saw a comment on fb earlier today that was hidden for "potentially offensive content", and it was literally just someone posting "1000%" in agreement with the op...

Is there any chance you could solve the problem by, like, just posting that chapter on AO3 by itself? It sounds like they have a problem with hosting that sort of content on their website, rather than a problem with you being a writer of that sort of content at all, so if the content isn't here on Patreon, it should be fine, right? Like, it seems like that wouldn't violate their policies, because if it's not hosted on Patreon and it's not patron-exclusive, then it's not part of what your patrons are paying for, and so it doesn't involve them at all; and I feel like the occasional disjointed CHAPTER FROM THE FUTURE being publicly available on other platforms ahead of time by itself wouldn't devalue subscriptions for anyone who cares about that, because readers would still need a subscription in order to get any input, any context, or any access to the other 29/30ths of your early-access/exclusive writing output from this month alone.

if worse comes to worse cam you could open a subcribestar adult page and post what gets flagged here on that. eg this last chapter and the naruto one you had to put into hibernation. oh and a possible reason patreon is being like this is bc payment processors (mastercard in particular) didn't do due diligence a couple of a years ago and found themselves liable for payments made to actual pdf files and their content.

are you using MS word or Libreoffice? Because LibreOffice (which is Free btw) gives the option of saving to pdf or epub. and if you are going this extra step, could you please make an epub as well as a pdf version available? epubs are much easier to read on programs like calibre as you can adjust the font size.

Iirc you can save the file as a PDF copy directly from Word.

Yeah I might have to start doing this going forward. I just don't use PDFs or Epubs, I've always just used Word Document and then copy pasted directly from the Word Program.

I actually don't think it was reported. I believe Patreon might be using AI to enforce their policies these days, meaning an AI picked up something in my post that was 'bad' and automatically hid it. That's why I'm hoping it was a false positive, but idk.
