Harry Potter embraced her tightly with his arms and squeezed her in a warm hug. "Do you think Fleur heard us?" he asked.
"She took a sleeping potion," Gabrielle replied. "It doesn't matter anymore."
"Does that mean you can spend the night with me?" Harry asked.
She giggled. "Are you asking me for a sleepover?"
"Yes," Harry said. "I couldn't sleep without you."
"Aww." She kissed him again. "Does that mean you don't want me to stay with Chloe?"
"I want you to be here, but if it's too much too soon, we don't have to," Harry replied.
She shook her head. "That feels good. And unlike the jerks I've dated in the past, I know you won't hurt me."
"No, I won't hurt you," Harry reassured her. But could he expect the same from her?
"Fleur told me that she and Bill are going out tomorrow evening for drinks with her friend and her fiancé. She asked if we want to come."
"Us? As a couple?" Harry asked.
Gabrielle furrowed her brows and playfully hit his chest. "Yes, as a couple. We are a couple, right?" Harry ran his hands along her bare legs and embraced her flawless backside. "We are a couple." He couldn't help but smile as he spoke those words aloud. It was so surreal that he and Gabrielle were officially dating. "I'll be there, but Fleur doesn't expect to reconcile with Bill before that, right?"
"She wants to go with or without him," Gabrielle sighed. "But she sounded like she was ready to forgive him."
"Yeah, I'm not surprised. How many fights have they had over all these years?"
"Too many to count," Gabrielle said.
"I promised my grandfather that I would visit him tomorrow afternoon, but I'll be ready. What time should I pick you up?" Harry chuckled, and Gabrielle giggled.
"Our room, let's say six? I'll even let you watch me get dressed."
"Agreed," Harry said. "But I can't promise to keep my hands off you."
"I think I can allow that." She kissed his chest and sighed with satisfaction. "By the way, I'd like to see your grandfather again."
"You can come with me tomorrow," Harry suggested.
"I have to work," Gabrielle said. "Maybe this weekend?"
"There's a match this weekend. I'll show you the rooftop," Harry said.
"That's a date." Gabrielle trailed her fingertips along his chest and played with his nipple. "Since it's settled, let me teach you everything about the doggy style position."
Harry found his grandfather outside in the garden, hunched over his precious magical bonsai tree. He circled the tree, trimming something that seemed like thin air, and his face was a mask of concentration. Grandfather had meticulously tended to his garden for decades of dedicated work, cultivating...
Harry had a deep love for bonsai trees and owned several worth thousands of Galleons. A bubbling fountain adorned the center of the serene, meditative space, lush with greenery and stone pathways that meandered through the garden. A stone bench with wrought iron rose-shaped handles sat near the perfect rose bushes. The air was fragrant, reminiscent of a tropical paradise, and Harry's grandfather would bring his coffee and newspaper here every morning, weather permitting.
"I hope you bring good news," the grandfather said, without turning around. He wore a wide-brimmed gardening hat, and his thick leather gloves lay on the cafe table near the double French doors that led into the house.
"Isn't hearing supposed to worsen with age?" Harry sat at the patio table and waited for his grandfather to join him.
"When I grow older, I'll let you know." The grandfather turned to him, leaning in, and his old blue eyes gleamed mischievously.
Harry rolled his eyes. "You're playing coy," he said as the grandfather sat across from him, taking off his hat.
Harry smiled. "Turns out you were right."
He spent the next thirty minutes, vividly recounting his encounters with Tracey, Gabrielle, and even the kiss with Fleur. As he spoke, his grandfather's eyes seemed to come alive. Harry finished by telling him that he couldn't be called a virgin anymore, and the grandfather applauded.
"That calls for a drink." He jumped up from the table and returned a moment later with two glasses and a fifty-year-old bottle of Scotch. "Just one," Harry said. "I have a date with Gabrielle tonight."
"That's precisely why you need a drink," the grandfather said, pouring generous portions of Scotch for each of them. "Time for the next lesson."
"Grandpa, I'm good at lessons," Harry said. "I've got it covered. Gabrielle is practically falling for me."
"Drink up, young one," he said.
They clinked their glasses, and the alcohol coursed through Harry, warming his chest and then cascading down his arms and legs. It went down smoothly, without a kick, and the grandfather easily convinced him to have another.
"Are you interested in keeping Gabrielle?" he asked. "Yes?" Harry set his glass down and furrowed his brow. "What about Tracey? Do you want her too?"
"I do," Harry said. "But I won't cheat on Gabrielle."
"Of course not," the grandfather said. "But it's not cheating if Gabrielle goes for a ride. Who said you can't have both at the same time?"
"You're kidding, right?" Harry let out a short laugh and shook his head. "I don't have that kind of sexual prowess to pull that off. Gabrielle is enough for me. If I can make her happy, I'm satisfied." He leaned back and smiled at his grandpa.
"Do that, and she'll leave you within a month," he said.
Harry straightened up in his chair and furrowed his brow. "You don't even know her," he said, regretting the words as soon as they left his lips.
"In your life, Harry, you've known many Gabrielle Delacours," he said. "Trust me. Did I ever miss the mark when it comes to honesty?"
"No," Harry replied.
"Besides, we're putting the cart before the horse," he continued. "Before you add Tracey, and even Fleur, you need to make sure Gabrielle is safe in the stable."
Harry leaned forward. "How do I do that?"
"Gabrielle, like her sister, is an alpha," he explained. "The problem is, you're not."
"Thanks," Harry said sarcastically.
"There's nothing wrong with being a beta," he assured. "Alphas wouldn't exist if they didn't have someone to dominate."
"Are you saying Gabrielle will dominate me?"
"She will try," the grandfather said. "It might come off as jealousy, sulking, or manipulating you into doing what she wants."
"Gabrielle isn't like that," Harry defended.
"Boy, I'm not saying she doesn't love you. Hell, she probably doesn't even know she's doing it. But think, why did she want you in the first place?"
"She said she didn't know why, but something changed in her."
The grandfather shook his head. "She came face to face with another alpha who tried to steal her partner from the pack. I'm talking about Tracey. Her reaction was as natural as breathing. It's ingrained in her DNA."
"It's not that simple," Harry replied.
"When all the sauce boils down, it really is that simple. Gabrielle felt threatened, which meant she lost control over you. She intensified the relationship to assert her claims over her pack mate."
"For Merlin's sake, grandpa. Gabrielle isn't a predator."
The grandfather gave him a sharp look. "Do you want to keep her?"
"More than anything else," Harry admitted.
"Then you can't let her dominate you. You have to become an alpha when it comes to Gabrielle."
"I don't want to be a jerk," Harry protested.
"I'm not talking about being a jerk," the grandfather explained. "I'm talking about staying true to your convictions. Don't let bad behavior slide just to appease her."
"What do you mean?"
"Sooner or later, Gabrielle will come face to face with another alpha again. It might be Tracey, or maybe even Fleur. If she tries to assert her dominance by behaving in a way that disrespects you or Tracey, call her out and hold her accountable for her actions."
"Hold her accountable? How?"
"By punishing her. It can mean anything from calling her out in front of her peers to walking away from her forever."
"I don't want to break up with her," Harry insisted. The grandfather sighed. "You weren't listening. What happened when Tracey came for you?"
"Gabrielle got jealous," Harry admitted.
"Gabrielle doesn't want to share you with a rival unless you're wearing the pants. You need to establish control, and you can only do that when you're willing to risk losing her. But trust me, you won't lose her. In fact, you'll find out that you might be the last man she ever wants."
"Seriously?"
"Don't mess this up, Harry. Fight against your beta instincts. By the way, it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to learn self-defense."
Harry furrowed his brow. "Why?"
"When you run with alphas, expect to get bitten."
On the table sat two half-empty pitchers of beer. Five of them crowded around the table, their attention divided between the chairs and the trivia game they were playing as a group.
Gabrielle sat next to Harry, looking radiant in a black crop top and tight blue jeans adorned with rips on the thighs. Her shiny blond hair cascaded in waves down her shoulders, and golden earrings and bracelets completed her look. Her green eyes burned brightly and never went more than two minutes without touching Harry's hand, arm, leg, or any other part of his body. From the very beginning, she made it clear that they were together, and he loved every second of it.
Fleur sat at the head of the table, her golden hair braided. Despite the troubles with her brother, she still smiled, and her outfit made Harry drool. She wore a tight pink dress that hugged every curve of her sensual body. The dress stopped halfway up her thighs, and thin spaghetti straps secured the top. A deep, plunging neckline showcased her ample cleavage, and her rock-hard nipples somehow pierced through the bra and dress, faintly visible against the smooth fabric.
Fleur's best friend sat across from Harry. He had only met her once at a house party hosted by Bill and Fleur a year ago. She had a fit physique, long brown hair braided like Fleur's, and incredible hazel eyes. Her skin had a golden-beige tone, and her firm breasts seemed ready to burst from an elegant black tank top.
The fiancé sat next to her and spent most of the evening engrossed in his phone. He and Bill not only worked together but were brothers from their time in Gringotts training. In another timeline, he could be mistaken for someone handsome. He had short blond hair and was in decent shape, but with dark circles under his eyes and oily skin born from potion fumes and eighty-hour work weeks, he didn't look too healthy. Bill once told him he took Dreamless Sleep Potion every day, and Harry couldn't pinpoint what connected him to the fiancé other than a long-standing romance from school.
"So, Harry, Fleur told me you're into triathlons?" Fleur's friend asked, gazing at him with her bright hazel eyes.
"Yes," Harry replied. "I'm training for a Muggle event next month near Paris."
"Which one?" She asked. "Maybe we signed up for the same race."
"Ironman," Harry answered.
She leaned forward, and her firm breasts pressed together, outlining her nipples. "September 20th?"
"That's the one," Harry confirmed.
Her jaw dropped. "Me too. Do you need a training partner? Cycling is killing me."
Gabrielle moved closer and slipped her hand into Harry's, then looked at him. "I'd love to watch you compete."
Harry turned to her and smiled. "And I'd love for you to come with me."
She smiled and kissed him on the lips. "Road trip." Gabrielle spoke a bit sharply, but after years spent alone in the woods, he didn't want to argue with her. Honestly, he loved that sass. He squeezed Gabrielle's hand and turned back to Fleur's friend. "So, you're having troubles with cycling?"
"It could be better," she said. "My running isn't bad, but I don't have anyone to ride with outside, and I'm afraid some Muggle jerk in a car will hit me. I have a few long rides coming up next week, and I'm nervous about them."
"I'll ride with you," Harry offered.
The girl's eyes widened. "Really?"
"I could ride," Gabrielle interjected.
"Sweetheart, you don't even have a bike," Fleur pointed out. "They ride for half a day at a speed of twenty miles per hour. But if Harry ever participates in a pilates competition, you'll be worth your weight in gold."
Fleur's friend and Harry chuckled, but Gabrielle didn't see the humor. "Maybe I'll start participating in triathlons too," she said. "If you're interested, I'll help you," Harry said, gazing into Gabrielle's stunning green eyes.
She wrapped her arm around him and pulled him closer. "Maybe. We'll see."
