Just got a new 3D printer and had to create this material
🕑 Added 2021-07-19 06:58:49 +0000 UTCHey all, I recently got a new Prusa i3 MK3S+ 3D printer, and it is really a fun device. While in the past I've use solid modelers, like MoI and OnShape to create models, I decided to try using Blender to do the same-- and with superb success! In fact, my new DESIGN MAGIC 3D kit (scheduled to land next Thurs), combined with the new superb boolean modifiers has worked just perfectly.
Here's a box I found on Thingiverse and then fixed it so it would work properly-- then added some logos and it prints perfectly. With the correct seal it is watertight, with the newly adjusted spring loaded hinges and a cam-action latch. I posted my fix on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4905638
So, of course I had to create the accompanying 3D material for Blender, and here it is. It has adjustments for the z-ridge scale, the color and a Cycles bevel (if needed). If rendering in cycles, you probably want to render with denoising off and up the samples.
One of the really cool things about PRUSA is their textured print plate, which creates a stunning texture on the bottom of the print (see images above). I've also tried replicating that in this material and there's a setting for it called Scale Top. If you're 3D printer has a different top texture, open the node group and swap the image out for something with diagonals or whatever the texture is.
As usual, these are KIT OPS materials-- just dump them into any KIT OPS KPACK folder and refresh. I hope you enjoy them.

This is a nice addon afaik, I have one modded mmu2s but tbh it was only intended to use it with soluble material and I had a bunch of problems with the device itself. Best would be to browse prusaprinters. org forum and go for their discord channel, to get in contact with some palette users.

Ha, nice Chipp, I love my Prusa MK3S - the best machine for us so far - pretty reliable for years now! Have upgraded ours with a Bondtech LGX and an Olsson Ruby, definitively a working horse for my business here. (https://www.bondtech.se/product/bondtech-lgx-ff-for-flexibles-for-prusa-mk3s/) I run Recreus Filaflex 60A Pro through the extruder w/o any problems - and mostly Extrudr Greentec Pro Carbon ... (don't forget to run a cold pull / atomic after changing materials :))

Thanks! Could be fun to replicate other 3d printing artifacts. I used to primarily print with a translucent blue, I liked it because you can shine a light through it and paint sections you want to be opaque that almost see through glow, or see through enough to see the infill pattern would be interesting/challenging. here's an example of one I did: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:17624
