Screen Recorder & Time Lapse for Blender
🕑 Added 2025-07-14 00:15:48 +0000 UTCUPDATED: Fixed issue where sequence rendering always starts over at 1. Now it starts over at the highest numbered image in the capture folder. This way you can now use the Stop Sequence button to effective pause the sequence capture, then you can start again from where you left off.
UPDATED: Now automatically installs Pillow (with your permission). You still need to manually install ffmpeg-- that cannot be automated. Still working on getting a Mac version. Same download URL below.

Here's another addon that I've been working on for a bit. This one is called SIMPLE CAPTURE and shows itself as ♥SC in the N panel.
The video capture tools I've tried haven't been great, especially with sound. The audio often comes out super quiet, almost impossible to hear. So, I figured I'd just make a simple Blender capture tool myself. The idea was to quickly churn out MP4s with good, clear audio. Once it's captured, the tool pops open the output folder, making it super easy to just drag and drop the video wherever—Discord, Reddit, email, you name it.
Features:
1. Screen snapshots and open in default app to make it easy to copy
2. Time delayed recordings for long sessions. I've always wanted to be able to record images every 1 or 1/2 a second and then compile them so I can later add a voiceover explaining how I do things. ♥SC can not only grab the images, but also compile them at any speed I want it to.
3. Video recording with NORMALIZED Audio. Yeah! That's a game changer for me. Simple to create and saves in a format anyone can instantly watch.
This only works on Windows at the moment. I'll be trying to get a Mac version working soon.

The latest version of Simple Capture (v0.9.7) uses the existing Blender version (if installed). You can also Uninstall it from the Prefs as well. The exact path will depend on your operating system and Blender version, but it will look something like this: Windows: C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 4.1\4.1\python\lib\site-packages\ macOS: /Applications/Blender.app/Contents/Resources/4.1/python/lib/python3.11/site-packages/ Linux (varies): /opt/blender-4.1.0-linux-x64/4.1/python/lib/python3.11/site-packages/

Quick question. Where does Pillow get installed? Is it installed in the directory where blender is installed or is it system wide installation. I recall having to install it per blender version.
