SIMPLE SCI FI ships and here's your free version
🕑 Added 2022-01-27 09:58:59 +0000 UTCHey everyone, as many of you know, GREEZYBEAR and I have been hard at work lately on this new displacement generator to take the place of J-Placement. Once I found out that guy wouldn't allow his generated maps to be used in any commercial way, I knew I had to create my own. And man, is it cool!
A funny thing happened on the way-- I figured out a workflow that got substantially better results, was much faster, and generated true geometry. It's crazy, and fun, and FAST! You gotta try it out.
I've attached the FREE version here. Just watch the video above and you can figure this out instantly. And, it should work just fine on even slower machines which displacement maps crushed. And if you like what you see, consider jumping on over to Blender Market or Gumroad and grabbing a copy for $15.

And, certainly, you can use either map any way you wish, including on other geometry as well. You are even free to sell them if you like.

Yes, using a cube projection you can use the color maps to add both color and bump maps to the Sci-Fi geometry. And, similarly, you can add emissive.maps as tiny lights. And of course, if you decide to go the displacement map route, the color maps will match up exactly with the displacement maps.

I'm a bit hazy on the relationship between the color map, dot map, and geometry. The color and dot maps are random? I can create color/dot maps and apply it to any geometry?

Nope! It`s crazy...still doesn`t work on my macbook 16" 2019 with Big Sur 11.6.2 under Blender 3.01. but still works on 2.93.7. I don`t get it. But again, thanks for your support!!!

Seems to be a problem with some versions of Mac. We're looking into it. For what it's worth, people are saying the pro version doesn't have the issue which doesn't make any sense to me.

It really doesn't matter, but overall I'd say I prefer Blender Market as they just seem to run a tighter and better ship. I've had a lot of technical issues over the years with Gumroad.
