Thilde

Well. No, they're uploading it a week later, and then we will get episode 2 then.

Andrew Garcia

their waiting to upload on yt bc they know the subs will whine about their show not winning. This wasn't my choice but I'm not gonna complain about a fair vote.

Wow you are a moron. Why have them react to this show, when you can just tell them what happens. The whole point is they go to each episode without knowing anything, yet you decide to spoil things, I guess this won't make sense to you since you incapable of using your brain to process things.

Marquez Mayes

Basically the ultimate taboo is trying to create life using alchemy

Breanna

Get ready cause this show gets deep AF

Saynt Michael

My absolute favorite. Goung to be my 5th time watching it through again with you guys.

Ryan Kosier

Not Sundroll, Central. Central City. There's also an East city, West city, and North and South... and like a hundred cities and villages in between. The country is Amestris.

Habbit44

favorite anime of all time it doesnt get any better than this

Jordan Feeg

If you guys liked Avatar...which I know you do! Then you will definitely love this show. One of the best and most satisfying stories out there, anime or not. You guys rock!

Wilhenro

Best Anime. Good Choice.

Undisputed

Nice job Ron with the salty reply and delete. I'm not crying about this show winning. Just think they would have enjoyed something else more and it sucks that they had to miss out.

Undisputed

Still can't believe people voted for this... So many great shows missed out.

Sheriff Uchiha

The name of the city is Central, as it's the capital. Every other thing you asked will be explained in the next 2 episodes. No spoilers from me.

Daga Luv

The first series was so great. Idk about this soft reboot.

Koala Banana

Eeeek so excited, if only I didn't have things to do I could watch!!!

Voreni

It may have been said already, but the biggest difference between the two shows is that brotherhood more closely follows the story in the manga. The original Fullmetal Alchemist started out very similar but deviated in their ending quite a lot since I don't think the manga was done yet. Brotherhood follows the manga storyline much more faithfully. That being said both shows are great, different endings aside.

Andrew Reise

I hope they get really into this and start doing like 2 or so episodes a week

Ben Hendrian

gonna be watching along

Ben Hendrian

I just started the show with them

Brandon Pritchard

Basically the first anime changed almost all the story after the beginning and Brotherhood is the one that follows the manga.

Herberderber

After the first ten or so they'll be hooked :D This and Avatar are so epic, satisfying and full of life lessons. If every kid watched these while growing up, the world would be a better place.

Weiss Schnee

YES YES YES YES

Kyle Hahn

The first series was made during the manga was still ongoing and got too far ahead, so it started making stuff up. This one is much more grounded in the manga's original story.

Jen A. Blue

Oh hey, I know you! (I'm Froborr on Mark Reads/Watches/Spoils.)

Jen A. Blue

Based on Mark Watches, I don't think that's true--he went into FMA:B knowing NOTHING, loved it and had no difficulty understanding it. His feelings on some of the characters were a little different (pretty much didn't care about Mustang's squad except Mustang and Riza, for example), but still enjoyed the show.

Habbit44

same lol

and im gonna stay on patreon nomatter ehat they do i did subscribe because of avatar but ill stay for the support becasae i love them

i love it

CDJackson96

I think that the 2003 anime followed the manga until it caught up, then it went in its own direction. FMA:B follows the manga more or less completley

Ever Beltran

IKR, we are either going to get people complaining about watching Brotherhood without watching the '03 version (which is not a bad Idea, but yeah you don't have to) or people bitching about not watching the Japanese version, and of course people whining because an anime won the 6k poll. Smh!

Hasani Houston

oh hell yea, got a reason to remain a patron after Avatar ends now

Thilde

I'm glad there aren't as many bitchy comments (yet) probably will increase when it gets released to everyone

Thilde

NICE! I hope you all enjoy it

Brittney Koza

I still feel very strongly that in order to enjoy this show fully, you need to have seen the original FMA. Brotherhood assumes you have, so it glosses over some important aspects

007

WHOA Surprise!!!!! This is gonna be fun...by the way if you develop a fondness for Japanese anime after this, you would probably be blown away by Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's like the star wars of Japan in terms of fame and cultural legacy.

cosmotron

Really excited about this! It's a great series. For an explanation on the two series, basically, when the FMA manga first started coming out it became popular very quickly, before the series was very far in. Kind of like if someone had decided to adapt A Song of Ice and Fire after only A Game of Thrones had been published. So while the beginnings are similar, the two anime series go in wildly different directions. Because the 2003 series had only a little of the source material to go off of, Hiromu Arakawa (the author and artist of the original manga) thought it was best for the 2003 series to have an entirely different ending. So, she gave the writers permission to basically do their own thing. The 2003 series is well-loved for a reason, but because of the way it was made it does have some issues with continuity and plot holes. Brotherhood more-or-less tells the manga's story completely, had a higher budget, etc. One could argue it does have some pacing issues at first because it goes through some of the material the 2003 series already covered more quickly. The manga is still the best version of the story in my opinion, but Brotherhood is an excellent adaptation, and I hope you all enjoy it.

Skeletor

Now wait a minute I ve seen the original one and while it shows a brief moment. This is not how the first series starts. Still think the other would make more since too fallow before this.

Skeletor

This is great and all But Im Hoping Eric Gets Caught up with Dragonball Super Dubbed episodes 5 and 6 soon.

Liesmith

Can't wait for them to get about four or five episodes in. The first three episodes are super fast since they cover the original series.

Ever Beltran

That's in the Japanese version. In the English dub Edward is voiced by Vic Mignogna :)

Chronos

The Voice for for Edward Elric is Romi Park.

Lalisa Truong

I actually prefer the subbed version for FMAB but I do admit the dubbed is pretty good. I'm so excited for you guys!! :D

Cat_Sidhe

YES!

Soul Manto

nice

WOOOOOOOOOOOOT! my roommate almost had a heart attack when I yelled after seeing this up!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! it's in!!!!

Agni Kai

not nearly as long as dr who would've

They don't know anything and I love it! It's cool to hear them all theorize. Sunday has become another highlight day for me! 😄

Victor Vilela

Once a week? Ohh boy that's gonna take a long time

Before watching comment: SO HAPPY ITS FINALLY HERE!!

Zeemod

YAY! It's here. Can't believe it won! I think once you hit episode 8 or 10 the pace slows down and plot takes a more focused approach. But pay good attention as you go on, I have a feeling theory crafting for this show will be real fun to watch. NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

slvr572

Both series follow the beginning of the manga. The original series eventually deviated from the actual story once it caught up with the manga. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood speeds through the original beginning and then follows through with the rest of the original manga story. It all becomes clearer over time.

So flipping stoked that you guys are watching this! This show was my life in highschool

Been waiting for this reaction. Makes me so happy. Also the difference between FMA and Brotherhood is Brotherhood follows the manga directly while FMA breaks off halfway through and does its own thing as the manga wasn't completed when it was made. You're not missing anything major by not watching FMA first. However some people find the first few episodes speed over events too quickly compared with FMA in order to get to new content quickly but I think if you've not watched the original you won't be able to tell that much.

Ryan Hopkins

For a reaction series, the dub makes more sense because it's less time reading and more time focusing on what's happening in the show.

AlthosHol

To be honest we kind of lose something in the English Dub. The emotional inflection comes through a lot better for me in the original Japanese and english subtitles.

Keyboard Junkie

Oh maaaaaaaan, I absolutely love Full Metal Alchemist! I've seen both variations and their respective films. I am very pleased to see this as apart of your reaction lineup. 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Indexsage

crow from rwby is ed in FMAB

Jen A. Blue

YAAAASSSS this is such a good show, I'm really glad you guys are watching it! It's a really good companion to Avatar--teenage protagonists, extremely well-choreographed, gorgeous fight sequences that combine martial arts with "magic" that has clearly defined rules, fun and colorful animation combined with a story that goes to surprisingly dark places. Plus Avatar is an American show set in an Asian fantasy world, while FMA:B is a Japanese show set in a European fantasy world. They just make really good companion pieces IMO.

Not a spoiler: the original show ran out of manga so they just made it up. Brotherhood is the complete story of the manga. So the first episodes are a similar story then they diverge later. Don't worry Shane your not missing out on story.

SmilePlease

Don't worry about not getting a lot of lore/info yet. It all gets pretty well explained as the series goes on. As you said. :)

mldirish14

Anybody know when we'll get the 8K poll?

SmilePlease

YESSSS! So much win! I waited for this since I saw who won the poll... I think you guys will love this show. It only gets better and better with every single episode. There are a ton of reocurring and likeable characters so I hope you pay close attention. :)

SK Azn Guy

I'm in the same boat. Thanks to blind wave, now I'll have watched game of thrones and now this. Expanding my horizons. :)

JojoInSpace

As much as I wanted Doctor Who, I can't believe how excited I am for you guys to watch this. This is so exciting! Going back to rewatch the whole show along with you guys (and I'm already a few eps ahead). Hope you guys enjoy, and I can guess you will based on your initial reactions. Exactly what I needed today. THANKS!

TheJediOtaku

yayayaya!

Qrowe

Some voice actor information: Edward Elric is voiced by Vic Minogna (Qrow in RWBY), Armstrong is voiced by Sabat, Hughes is voiced by Sonny Strait (Krillin). These are all characters you met this episode.

Victor Vilela

Awesome!

KevinFromNewYork

Color me disappointed :(

Ghutix

Was going to watch the show with you guys. Ended up watching the entire thing. Incredible show! :)

Imo one of the best anime ever made, there were a lot of other good shows in the poll too but still happy this one got the most votes

Kris

I guess I have to start watching a new show

Greg Alan

YAY!!!!
